Scotland Euro 2024 disaster predicted as sneering English pundit writes off chances

Jamie Carragher has predicted Scotland will finish dead last in their Euro 2024 group.

Steve Clarke's side managed to avoid a Group of Death for this summer's tournament but the section we did land does still come with plenty of potential pitfalls. We'll face hosts Germany in the opener as well a Hungary side including Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai and Switzerland.

Hungary and Switzerland will been seen as winnable games but the Scotland team will also need to be wary of the threats they pose. While our team has proven an ability to shock the big boys from time to time so the Germany game shouldn't be written off as one to take points from either.

Basically anything - all the way through from topping the group to finishing bottom with zero points - could happen. But Carragher is convinced it's more likely to be the latter as he gave his predictions for the groups.

The English pundit told The Telegraph: "I think Germany, being at home. I think Nagelsmann is a top manager and I think it was a mistake for Bayern Munich to get rid of him.

"The first game is against Scotland. That will be a great game and Scotland will bring the numbers over, but I actually see Hungary joining them.

"They have done well of late and the Liverpool (Dominik) Szoboszlai is their star man. He has had a really good season and I think he will have a really good tournament. I think Switzerland come next and Scotland come last."
