Billy Gilmour believes he is slowly starting to settle in at Napoli and revealed he and Scotland pal Scott McTominay are listening to a local Neapolitan rapper to try to help them learn the lingo faster.

The duo arrived in Serie A from Brighton and Manchester United respectively last summer and have helped Antonio Conte's side launch a surprise title challenge by knocking up 10 wins from their first 15 matches, with Napoli currently trailing league leaders Atalanta by just two points. Gilmour has admitted that compatriot McTominay is ahead of him in the classroom when it comes to learning Italian but says the pair have been listening to Naples rapper Emanuele Palumbo - professionally known as Geolier - to try to speed up the process.

In a interview with Radio CRC (via Spazio Napoli) he said: "I immediately felt an identity of the city, strong and very passionate, just like we are in Scotland. I perceived it immediately. I have been here for three and a half months and obviously it is not easy to move to a new culture: I am making progress though, I am learning Italian and among the words I know are 'bravissimo' and 'forza Napoli sempre'.

"Who is more Neapolitan between Scott McTominay and me? He is probably a little further along in the process of 'Neapolitanization'. We study Neapolitan, but we also do it through songs: we listen to Geolier, there are two or three songs that I listen to the most."

Gilmour, 23, previously worked with boss Conte while he was a youth player at Chelsea and added that one Blues teammate at the time also helped him develop into a first team player. He added: "There is a famous photo with him (Conte) from when I was in the Chelsea youth sector, I trained with the first team when he was in London.

"It was a very important experience for my growth. From that team I undoubtedly remember (Cesc) Fabregas as a reference, who gave me the opportunity to grow."
