Aberdeen were last night crowned TEXO Scottish Masters after beating Rangers in a nail-biting penalty shootout.

The Dons lifted the iconic trophy on home soil as the six-a-side tournament was held in the Granite City for the first time. Yet their tournament could've have gotten off to a worst start as they lost the opening group stage game 3-2 to Rangers. Fans in attendance were then treated to a six-goal thriller at Dundee United and Celtic shared the spoils in the second game of the night.

There was no time to rest for the Tangerines as they quickly kicked off against Rangers, playing out another draw. Reigning champions Celtic then crashed to defeat against Aberdeen, with former fans' favourite Jonny Hayes scoring the winner. It was then time for the showpiece fixture as the Old, Old Firm locked horns.

Gers only required a draw to reach the final and that's exactly what they earned after Stan Petrov's strike was cancelled out by Kris Boyd's late leveller, meaning holders Celtic finished bottom of the table without a victory. That meant the final spot would be taken by either Aberdeen or Dundee United, and after another breathless 3-3 encounter, it was the hosts who booked their place against Rangers.

Perhaps the legends had run out of steam but it was a cagey opening few minutes before Hayes eventually broke the deadlock. Dorrans then equalised with a thunderous effort in the second-half before GOALKEEPER Joe Lewis scored with a ridiculous punt over Roy Carroll. Pedro Mendes got the ex-Manchester United No1 out of jail, though, as he netted a last-gasp leveller to force the game into penalties.

Such is the nature of a sudden-death shootout, there's no room for error and it was Graham Dorrans who had his head between his hands as the Rangers man missed the only spotkick to give the Dons more bragging rights over their Ibrox rivals, keeping the feelgood factor in the Granite City.
