When are the second College Football Playoff rankings released? What to know
The second College Football Playoff Rankings will be released in a little more than 24 hours. If the committee members stick to their approach from the first rankings, then it's not only about how many games you win but also how you win those games that keep you in the CFP conversation.
In the initial rankings, the SEC and Big Ten stood out in the projected playoff bracket. This dominance highlights the strength of these conferences, schedules and the quality of their victories. Four SEC teams—Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, and Alabama—secured a spot. At the same time, from the Big Ten, Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, and Indiana remained in the CFP conversation following the first rankings.
The remaining teams that made it into the first 12-team bracket are as follows: undefeated BYU, which is seeded fourth; the one-loss Texas Longhorns, seeded No. 6; Notre Dame, seeded No. 10; and the undefeated Boise State, seeded No. 12. Each team has its unique story and journey and they hope to maintain dominance in the second rankings.
As the college football season concludes another exciting week of nail-biting games, teams are on edge, hoping they've done enough to secure their standings ahead of the second rankings release. The anticipation is palpable as they await their fate in the CFP conversation.
