Arsenal took on Monaco in the UEFA Champions League with a chance to solidify their position in the top eight of the league phase. Thanks mainly to their star man, the Gunners are looking very healthily ahead of just two more games.

Bukayo Saka it was who scored in the first half following a very well-worked goal to end a run of 286 minutes of match time from the last goal scored from open play. The Gunners would then ride some pressure in the second period before Saka again latched onto a mistake at the back to smash in a strike and secure the points - Thilo Kherer would add a late own goal for good measure!

Despite the TNT Sports cameras being in attendance for the game, the images shown through television screens could not capture everything. Thankfully, football.london were in attendance to provide a glimpse of all the things missed by the pictures.

Lewis-Skelly’s flowers

Arsenal opened the scoring late in the first half following what was a pretty timid opening to the game. Bukayo Saka was given a chance on a plate by Gabriel Jesus following a couple of big misses by the Brazilian.

However, it was Myles Lewis-Skelly who arguably deserved the most praise for starting the move with a great turn and through pass. A great moment for the young midfielder-turned-full-back.

In the celebrations, the 18-year-old was approached by both William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli who offered their congratulations. A nice show of appreciation and welcoming to the youngster on his first Champions League start.

Arteta scathes his side

The Gunners did not start the second half particularly quickly. Having missed several chances in the first half and being lucky to escape the sending off of Gabriel Martinelli, Monaco were emboldened to attack.

As Arsenal continued to be peppered with chances, the Gunners kept finding ways to clear their lines. However, when Arteta was not happy with the speed his players chased the ball out of their box, he bounded down the touchline, waving his arms in anger and asking for greater urgency from his side.

Coach Jorginho

Mikel Arteta has made no illusion about the intention of Jorginho in regard to coaching. The Italian acts as something of an unorthodox member of Arteta’s coaching staff in player form.

Having come on toward the end of the game, after just minutes of being on the field, Arteta called him over to the sideline. Delivering instructions, Jorginho went to each member of the back line and the midfield, with clear specifications of what his manager wanted.

Clearly whatever said worked as moments later the Gunners scored their second of the evening. Jorginho’s work was done.
