'Shut up' - Jamie Carragher makes new Mohamed Salah claim after Liverpool 'nonsense'
Jamie Carragher has taken his criticism of Mohamed Salah to a new level. The former vice-captain has insinuated the Liverpool talisman has tried to 'turn the fan base' against Liverpool by speaking out about his contract negotiations - and can't believe they would fall for such 'nonsense'.
After his match-winning brace against Southampton, Salah stopped in the mix zone to give a rare interview. There the 32-year-old revealed that despite his desire to stay at Anfield, despite the club not yet actually offering him a contract extension beyond the end of the current season.
In turn Carragher too was saddened, but with Salah himself rather than Liverpool's current scenario. Speaking on Sky Sports he blasted: "I am very disappointed with Mo Salah. That interview last night after the game and it comes out today..

"The most important thing for Liverpool this season, is not the future of Salah, not the future of Virgil van Dijk and it is not the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold. The most important thing is Liverpool winning the Premier League, that is more important than any of those players."
One Reds fan would take to X in response, highlighting what they say was Carragher's hypocrisy in his new condemnation of Salah.
Their post included quotes from an interview Liverpool's former defender did with The Sunday Times in March 2010. He said at the time: "The club will give me a new contract if they want to. If not, it doesn't matter, I'll still play my best and if I have to move then I'll move, no problem. It wouldn't bother me."
In a similar situation to the Egyptian international at the time, the vice-captain's contract was due to expire in 2011, though in October 2010 he would eventually confirm a two-and-a-half-year extension.
"Shut up you (clown face emoji). Read the actual quotes in it [March 2010 interview]," he angrily replied to the post.
Making a strong insinuation about Salah in his own defence, he added: "I was asked if the club don’t give me a contract what would I do. I certainly wouldn’t ever play games and try and turn a fan base against the club.
"Can’t believe how many people on here fall for this nonsense every year from players."
