Softball: Rusk out slugs Henderson, wins warm-up game, 6-3

Apr. 22—RUSK — Rusk will enter the playoffs later this week with a surge of momentum after knocking off Henderson, 6-3, Monday night at Lady Eagle Park in a warm-up game.

The Lady Eagles (20-12-2) received two hits apiece from Sarah Boudreaux, Aubrey Hassell and Kennzie Norton.

Boudreaux lifted a solo home run in the seventh inning while Hassell tripled in the final frame.

Norton crushed a double to get in on the extra base hit action for the Lady Eagles.

Arabella Heredia also stroked a double and drove in three runs for the Red and Black.

Boudreaux, one of four Rusk pitchers to see duty in the circle, recorded the win. She tossed two innings and didn't allow a run or a hit. She walked one Lady Lion.

Chloe Ellis went 3-4 for Henderson (21-10).

Rusk will take on Gilmer at 8 p.m. Thursday in Game 1 of a best-of-three bi-district series. The game will be played at Tyler Legacy High School.
