Somerset Christian sweeps Saturday doubleheader

Apr. 22—Saturday was just what the doctor ordered for Somerset Christian's eight-game losing streak, as they were able to comfortably defeat both their opponents heading into a key district series.

They first squared off against Frankfort Christian Academy and didn't allow a single run, defeating the Royals 8-0. Jackson Case led the way with four RBI's and hit for the cycle with a single, double, triple and home run in the win. Gavin Lewis added two RBI's, with Isaiah Hensley and Conrad Martin each adding one. Shadrach Barnett had three stolen bases in the contest, with Hensley adding one. Hensley also earned the win on the mound, going four and two-third innings and allowing no runs on just three hits with two walks and nine strikeouts. Lewis pitched the final two and one-third innings, allowing no hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

They then faced off against Cornerstone Christian in game two and ended this one early, as the Cougars defeated the Bulldogs 13-2 in five innings. Hensley led the way with five RBI's and a home run blast during the win. Barnett added two RBI's of his own, with Case, Trey Hogan and Austin Doan each adding one RBI apiece. Lewis and Tristan Ruble each had two stolen bases, with Doan, Hensley, Case, Barnett and Joshua Ray each adding one each. Barnett earned the win on the mound, going all five innings and allowing two runs on one hit with two walks and five strikeouts. Cornerstone Christian was led by sophomore Kacee Biddle with two RBI's and a home run.
