Southampton vs Liverpool score predicted as the Reds face tough Premier League test
Liverpool will be looking to return from the international break with a bang later today when the Reds take on Southampton in the Premier League.
Another impressive performance saw Liverpool beat Aston Villa 2-0 in the Premier League in their last outing, ensuring the Reds remained top of the Premier League heading into the last international break of 2024. After two weeks, Arne Slot's side are back in action, facing a trip to the south coast to take on bottom-of-the-league Southampton.
The Saints have managed just one win all season, beating Everton 1-0 at the beginning of the month. The last clash between Liverpool and Southampton at St. Mary's Stadium ended 4-4, so the Reds will be hoping for a much different result this time.
Slot has confirmed that Virgil van Dijk is fit for the weekend after leaving the Netherlands camp early during the international break, though Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Federico Chiesa, and Diogo Jota all remain out. Harvey Elliott is back in training, so the Englishman may return to the squad later today.

Southampton vs Liverpool score predicted
To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.
We predict that the Saints could set up in a 3-5-2 formation, with their line-up as follows: McCarthy; Wood, Harwood-Bellis, Stephens; Sugawara, Fernandes, Downes, Lallana, Walker-Peters; Armstrong, Archer.
We predict that Liverpool could line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jones, Diaz; Nunez.
A quiet first-half unfolded on the south coast, with the best chance of the half falling to Ryan Gravenberch whose shot from 30 yards out was fantastically pushed wide goal by the 'keeper. Southampton defended well in the opening hour, but a moment of magic unlocked their back line as the Reds went 1-0 ahead.
Salah rolled the ball into the path of Curtis Jones just outside the box, and after sizing up his defender, the Englishman dropped his shoulder before evading two challenges to break through on goal. One-on-one, Jones placed his shot into the corner of the net to put the Reds a goal up in style.
As Liverpool looked to hold out for the three points, disaster struck in the 88th minute when Cameron Archer equalised for the hosts. A cleared cross fell to the feet of the striker just outside the box, and his first-time effort struck the legs of Ibrahima Konate, with the deflection taking the ball to the wrong side of Caoimhin Kelleher and into the net.
Despite the late goal, Liverpool didn't take their foot off the gas, and in the 94th minute, Slot's side found the winner.
Substitute Dominik Szoboszlai did well to press Adam Lallana into giving up possession deep in the Southampton half, with the Reds suddenly in a four-on-three situation. Szoboszlai found Darwin Nunez on the left, and the striker beat his man before sliding his shot into the far corner of the net, leaving the 'keeper with no chance as the Reds picked up a late three points on the road.
