Southwestern stops skid with win over Danville

Apr. 2—Southwestern had lost eight of their last nine games and traveled to Bardstown on Monday to take part in the Keaton Hall Wood Bat Memorial. They were set to square off against Danville, a team they had lost four of their past five contests against. However, it was a different story on this day, as Southwestern was able to take home an 8-5 win over the Admirals.

The Warriors were led by Jackson Couch with two RBI's, with Jayce Gager, Jonah Brock, Michael Miller and Daniel Case each chipping in an RBI apiece. Jonas Gallagher and Cameron Shipp also recorded a hit each in the win. Shipp added two stolen bases, with Couch, Gallagher and Clifton Sawyers getting one stolen base apiece. Wyatt Morgan earned the victory on the mound, pitching three innings and allowing four runs on four hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Gager went four innings in relief, allowing just one run on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Danville was led by sophomore Wyatt Gale with four RBI's and a home run.

Southwestern improves to 3-8 for the season and will next play Thomas Nelson on Tuesday in the Keaton Hall Wood Bat Memorial.
