The jury may still be out on Philippe Clement, but they could well be close to returning a damning verdict if recent performances continue.

An unconvincing win over Hearts did little persuade a number of Ibrox punters that a change in the dugout isn't needed, and some want the Rangers high heid yins to move now rather than waiting to see if he can retain the Premier Sports Cup against Celtic. And they've been warned to move quickly to avoid missing out on a particular name should Steve Clarke decide to call it quits.

Gordon Ferguson, Kilwinning, said: "If Rangers want Derek McInnes as their next manager it's time to move now as Stevie Clarke will be gone shortly. He's taken scotland as far as he can and surely it's time to go so for once maybe just maybe the board will go for a manager who truly understands Scottish football and has proven he has the character to stand up to Celtic. Sorry Phil but tot ziens."

Moving quickly doesn't appear to be in the DNA of the Rangers shot-callers, given they still haven't replaced James Bisgrove as CEO. Why? James Kennedy, Kilsyth, has a couple of theories: "Why have Rangers still not appointed a CEO? There are a few reasons for this but I think that the main reasons are...

"1. They have no money. 2. Any financial expert doing due diligence on their prospective employer would realise the dreadful financial dire straits the club is in and they might have the unenviable task of sacking themselves because the club can’t afford them. Years of financial mismanagement have caught up with Rangers again."

The Union Bears are at loggerheads with the Ibrox board once again and one fan is backing them to the hilt. Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, emailed: "British to their boot straps, and when it comes to organising tributes they come into their own, this for the fallen on Remembrance Day was unsurpassed, never bested by any sporting organisation in Britain.

"If true that a spiteful Rangers board decided to purposely hinder them, it's shameful the Union Bears have done many tributes, this one the finest, to them I raise my glass. These Union Bears are more British than the British."

Steve Clarke has warned clubs to start playing more young players or Scotland faces being left behind. James Thomson, Yoker, goes even further: "The state of Scottish football is embarrassment and a disgrace, the lack of young players coming through top Scottish clubs is shameful. We have far to many foreign players in this country it's time to invest in youth football. As for SFA they are just as guilty Doncaster, what has he done to improve Scottish football, nothing.

"It's time for clean sweep get rid of Doncaster. It is time for clubs to invest in our young talent and it's time for our young talent to step up improving their game most are just mediocre players."

Stephen Ward, Milngavie, has urged the SFA to get a grip on the TV scheduling - or lack of - for Scotland games. He emailed: "The SFA need to sort out the games being shown on council tv instead of telling us what a great deal they have. Not everyone has access to pay tv. If England were playing conkers it would be live on ITV."

Alan Flett would do away with the national team altogether. He asked "Must we have these international breaks? They disrupt the season and nobody cares about international football anymore. The sooner it's abolished, the better."

In the absence of club football, we were treated to the Scottish Masters from Aberdeen. But it seems Scottish football conspiracies know no age limits. Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: "The disallowed goal for Dundee United over six foot across the line in the Scottish Masters indicates one of two things, either the SFA have indicated to the officials to direct in a certain way or the official in the match was totally corrupt as it wasn't a close call.

"One way or another answers need answered and as for the BBC commentary the foul on Dundee Utd for the first goal was clearly in the box, yet disputed. All I'll say is show a still rather than blether wrongly."

Finally, Kenneth Vargas stating his desire he wants to leave Hearts for a better level of football was never going to go unnoticed given the Jambos' lowly position and Vargas' part in them being there due to missing a number of sitters. Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, emailed: "I read Kenneth Vargas criticising the Scottish game saying he wants to play against better players.

"However I suggest he looks at his finishing ability in front of goal first as he cost Hearts a valuable point when straight through on goal against Rangers. He’s hardly the Ronaldo of the Scottish game and his priority must be to drag his club out of the relegation zone."

However, Neil Renton, Leith, doesn't blame him. He added: "I don’t blame Hearts forward Kenneth Vargas wanting to play at a higher level. It can’t be easy for a team whose ambitions are to challenge the Old Firm are at the bottom end of the league."
