Siya Kolisi has revealed he has ended his marriage on the eve of the autumn internationals.

The double World Cup winner announced the news on Instagram, in a collaborative post with wife Rachel. They tied the knot back in 2016 and have two children together - Nicholas and Keziah.

The couple explained that it was a mutual decision made with "love, respect and understanding" for each other, and now is the best time to move on.

The statement reads as follows: "We wanted to share some important news with you. After much reflection and open conversations, we have mutually decided to end our marriage. This decision comes from a place of love, respect, and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us.

"While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they've always known. We will also continue working together on the Foundation that means so much to us.

"We are grateful for the love, understanding, and support you’ve shown us, and we kindly ask for your respect as we navigate this transition.

"With gratitude and love, Siya and Rachel."

The couple first met at a dinner party in 2012 following a rugby match, and as well as the two children they have together, the pair adopted the Springbok's younger brother and sister in 2014, after their mother died when Kolisi was just 15.

Rachel is a social media personality, with over half a million Instagram followers. She's the co-founder and CEO of the Kolisi Foundation, which aims to 'change the story of inequality in South Africa'.

The Springboks are about to get their Autumn Nations Series under way in the Northern Hemisphere, with games against Wales, Scotland and England.
