Aberdeen's game against St Mirren has been delayed as heavy snow from Storm Bert continues to cause havoc for SPFL fixtures across the country.

Multiple fixtures in the Premiership have seen their start times pushed back, with Rangers v Dundee United and St Johnstone v Kilmarnock all knocked back.

Now, Aberdeen's game against St Mirren will kick-off at 4pm after the pitch passed a late inspection shortly before 3pm.

Heavy snow in Renfrewshire had left the pitch at SMiSA Stadium blanketed in snow, with the Buddies earlier saying volunteers had been on hand to help get the ground ready for kick-off.

Both clubs and the SPFL agreed to the new start time in an effort to give the game the best chance of going ahead.

Aberdeen said in a statement: "Following discussions between both clubs and the authorities it has been agreed we will work towards a provisional 4pm kick off with a final pitch inspection at 2.55pm in order to give the game every chance of going ahead. Turnstiles will now open at 3pm."

They later added: "Following a final pitch inspection the referee has confirmed the match will go ahead at 4pm."

Buddies boss Stephen Robinson admitted he didn’t expect St Mirren's game to be on when he arrived at the stadium.

The Northern Irishman admitted that he reckoned at around 1pm he would have said the game would be axed "100 per cent" amid the Storm Bert chaos.

But the game is subject to a second pitch inspection at 2.55pm with kick-off delayed until 4pm.

He told BBC radio: "If you had asked me an hour ago I would have said 100 per cent no (to the game being on). A couple of hours ago I can’t even believe they were trying to get it on.

"Credit to everyone here. So, if we get a result today we will have to dedicate it to them because at one stage getting a game on didn’t look feasible."
