Stoke City predicted starting XI vs Southampton as forward bids for first start of season
Andre Vidigal is on standby to make his first Stoke City start since April as Narcis Pelach shakes up his starting XI for a Carabao Cup tie at Southampton.
Stoke make the long trip south on Tuesday (7.45pm) as they bid to reach the last eight for the first time since 2020, having beaten Carlisle, Middlesbrough and Fleetwood with a young squad - and, indeed, the youngest side in the club's long history for the 5-0 win at Middlesbrough.
It remains to be seen if Pelach sticks with the back five approach he adopted at Sheffield United in the Championship on Saturday, which would give Jaden Dixon and perhaps Michael Rose a chance to come back into the team and Ash Phillips to get more minutes after his return to action at Bramall Lane.

Jack Bonham is likely to start in goal and Junior Tchamadeu and Eric Bocat are expected to be used in wide defensive roles, whether at full-back or wing-back.
Sol Sidibe and Tatsuki Seko are hoping to be involved in midfield and Jordan Thompson is a likely candidate as captain while Emre Tezgel, Niall Ennis and Vidigal are vying for starts up front. Vidigal has made six substitute appearances since returning from the cold under Pelach but he hasn't started since an away loss at Swansea in the spring. Tom Cannon could also be in contention after he played just 45 minutes on Saturday.
Stoke have three successive three-game weeks and have important Championship games coming up against Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Millwall after this diversion in the cup.
