Storm Darragh football latest as SPFL goes early on call offs, pitch inspection set and iconic EPL fixture blown away
It seems unlike during Storm Bert a couple of weeks ago, Scotland is escaping the worst of Storm Darragh.
Then, it was the big freeze that picked off games across the country, one by one. Some were called off as late as 2.30pm, leaving fans fuming and their ire directed at the SPFL. This time however, it seems (so far) that most of the card will survive. There was a proactive call to postpone Stranraer vs Forfar Athletic as early as last night, given the south west of Scotland and north west of England and Wales will bear the brunt of the weather. Bonnyrigg Rose vs Spartans is due for a pitch inspection.
It's already claimed to be the game of the weekend down south. Everton were due to host Premier League leaders Liverpool for the final time at Goodison Park. The famous old ground is having it's swan song season before the Toffees move into their new home on the river next term. But given the safety warnings in place due to the storm, the Merseyside derby was called off this morning.

Wales is particularly affected and Cardiff City's Championship clash at home to Watford was canned last night after the Bluebirds liaised with the Met Office, city council and South Wales Police.
Newport vs Carlisle has suffered the same fate, while struggling Plymouth Argyle won't be taking on Oxford.
