Stuart McCall admits he's been left baffled by Nico Raskin's demise under Philippe Clement.

The Belgian midfielder was poached from Standard Liege in January 2023 and was a standout under Michael Beale. But the 23-year-old has fallen down the pecking order since Clement took charge, although he did miss a chunk of the season with an ankle injury.

Since returning, Raskin has found minutes hard to come by with the likes of John Lundstram, Mohamed Diomande, Tom Lawrence, Dujon Sterling and Todd Cantwell all in front of him. And McCall confessed he's been surprised by the former Gent youth's lack of opportunities.

The Rangers legend told BBC Sportsound: "I'm a wee bit mystified by it. Every time I see him come on, even for 10 minutes, he seems really busy and gets about the game. I liked him when he first came in and then he did have a dip like a lot of them did. Under Mr Clement, he just doesn't seem to have got a look in."

While Raskin hasn't featured as much as he'd have liked recently, he's still racked up 27 appearances this season, scoring and assisting once.
