ADIL AOUCHICHE, Abdoullah Ba and Nazariy Rusyn will all be made available to leave Sunderland next month, with Regis Le Bris admitting that the trio need to head elsewhere if they are going to start playing regular football.

All three players were expected to leave Wearside in the summer, with Le Bris having been planning to work without them, the transfer window closed at the start of September with them still on the Black Cats’ books.

Aouchiche has made two brief substitute appearances in the Championship so far this season, with his only senior start having come in the Carabao Cup defeat at Preston. Rusyn, who also started the cup game at Deepdale, has had six substitute outings, but the most recent came back on October 1 and he was an unused substitute against Stoke at the weekend. Ba was not even in the matchday squad at the weekend, having failed to play a single minute of Championship football so far this term.

None of the trio feature in Le Bris’ plans for the second half of the campaign, with Sunderland officials hoping to be able to move them on in order to help create some space in the squad for potential new additions.

“There are players who haven’t really been involved who could maybe leave in January,” confirmed Le Bris, ahead of this evening’s home game with Bristol City. “If you don’t have the opportunity to play, and you have an option with another club that is good for your development, then sometimes that is a good option to take and move on.

“We will see what happens. We have to be mindful of the balance of the team and the squad. You need to have subs who have the right mindset, even if they don’t play a lot.

“You need players who are always available, good in training sessions and positive on the bench. That is very important, and then you also have to remember that all of the players have a contract. That is another factor. But the players need to play, and you need a squad that has the right dynamic.”

Milan Aleksic is another player who has barely featured in the first half of the season following his summer move from Serbian side Radnicki.

There have been suggestions that Aleksic could be sent out on loan in January in order to ensure he does not spend a whole season without much first-team involvement, but given that he is still learning English, Le Bris feels the 19-year-old would be better served by remaining on Wearside as part of Sunderland’s senior squad.

“For every player, we will have a specific assessment,” he said. “Probably, for Milan, he still needs to be part of the environment here. He was in Serbia before, now he is here learning English and he needs to continue with that.

“He is also learning a new style of football. He has many good qualities, and probably spending more time with us is the best option for him. We will see.”
