Super League play-offs semi-final schedule with dates and TV details confirmed
Six has become four, but only two can make it to Old Trafford. The first weekend of the Super League play-offs is over, and it has delivered as expected.
Leigh Leopards and Warrington Wolves were the triumphant sides, with the pair advancing to the semi-finals after wins over Salford Red Devils and St Helens respectively. Now, they are just one win away from the Grand Final.
They are joined in the semi-finals by Wigan Warriors and Hull KR, who had secured their passage to the last four courtesy of their league positions at the end of the season. Now, with the line-up confirmed, we know exactly who plays who in the last four stages.
As league leaders, Wigan play the lowest-ranked side remaining in the competition. That is their neighbours, Leigh, who ended the season in fifth. The two teams will play on Saturday, October 5th at the Brick Community Stadium.
The day before, Hull KR and Warrington Wolves go into battle at Sewell Group Craven Park, with the teams that ended the season in second and third battling it out for a right to play at the Theatre of Dreams.
Feasibly, a long-awaited new winner of the competition is on the cards. Three of the four teams remaining have never won a Grand Final, with Wigan the only side to have done so. They are one of just four teams to ever win the competition in the previous 28 seasons.
