Supercomputer makes interesting Nottingham Forest prediction after Newcastle United defeat
Nottingham Forest have been tipped to achieve a top-10 finish in the Premier League this season after their eye-catching form.
A 3-1 defeat to Newcastle United at the City Ground last Sunday ended a three-match winning streak for the Reds, but they can still enjoy spending the international break sitting fifth in the table.
It has been a fine start to the campaign for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, and their recent run of positive results saw several pundits talk up the possibility of European football returning to Trentside.
However, the updated predictions of one supercomputer have Forest to narrowly miss out on a European spot. Analysts from Casino Hawks have the Reds down to finish ninth in the table.
Their predicted table is put together from a probability model based on a team’s current strength (based on factors such as league position and form) and betting market odds. Forest are backed to end the season with 57 points courtesy of 15 wins, 12 draws and 11 defeats.
The supercomputer has Nuno’s men down to finish 10 points adrift of Newcastle United in sixth. Liverpool are tipped to win the title, while Wolverhampton Wanderers, Ipswich Town and Southampton are predicted to go down.

Even amid his team’s flying start, head coach Nuno has consistently underlined the need to keep feet on the ground. After losing to the Magpies, he spoke of his pride in the work his side have been doing.
“Even though we lost the game today, I am very pleased,” he said. “All of us at Forest should be proud of our players and the way we have been working together.
“The effort was there and the belief was there to give everything. We recognise that OK, let’s go again. I’ve been proud from day one of the way we’ve been working as a team."
