Swansea City make contact with January targets as Luke Williams reveals what he wants
Luke Williams says Swansea City have already made contact with potential January targets, but insists there's no 'desperation' to strengthen his squad.
The Swans currently sit ninth ahead of this weekend's visit of Sunderland, and are now just four points adrift of the play-places heading into a typically hectic festive schedule.
Planning for January has clearly already begun in earnest, with the club already identifying targets before the window re-opens.

However, Williams says the impressive progress made by his charges means there's less pressure to strengthen ahead of the second half of the season.
"I think what's encouraging is that we're seeing lot of guys playing well and improving steadily, so there doesn't have to be a desperation. But we're certainly looking, and the cogs are turning.
"We've highlighted certain players that we're really interested in and we've made contact with those players. There's still many things that have to happen of course, but we're ion a good place and we have a squad we really believe in as well."
The January window hasn't always been the happiest of hunting grounds for the Swans, with the club enduring several disappointing recruitment drives in recent years.
But with a new ownership group now in place, Williams says he's confident that the right moves will be made.
"There are many things to consider," he added. "What I'd very much like to happen is to be completely in line with the club rather than me saying I want this and they didn't give it to me and then throwing toys around.
"I don't want to be that head coach. I want to be the head coach that's in front of you that has the support and supports the rest of the people at the club.
"I feel confident. I'm really happy with what I'm seeing in terms of the effort that's now going into securing Ben Cabango and Harry Darling. I'm happy we've secured Liam Cullen.
"All of these things have happened more recently and there's a different energy and intensity around getting stuff done, and a more in-lined thinking, and I'm more than confident that's going to continue."
Williams had indicated towards the end of the summer window that he was keen on adding more firepower to his squad, but he says the bar set by his current crop has perhaps narrowed down the number of potential options he feels might be able to add something to the team.
"The sensible thing to do is to always be looking for someone that takes you to a different level. The performances of the players you're talking about in the attacking half of the pitch, means the bar for players outside the club is raising.

"Every time Liam Cullen plays so well. Every time Ronald makes more assists. Every time Peart-Harris shows he can affect the game from wide positions. Every time Jisung makes big actions with box actions.
"When they do this week in, week out, the bar raises steadily. Then the players we're looking at from outside have to be above that bar. It's quite simple.
"For the players that are here, the better they perform, the smaller the pool of players to come into the club gets.
"I'm happy either way. I'm happy if they continue to push the bar so high that Benzema's the only one left on the list.
"But if they don't we have to find someone that pushes our level higher."
