Connor Roberts says he want's to re-join boyhood club Swansea City before he brings his playing career to an end.

Roberts left Swansea for Burnley back in 2021, having made over 150 appearances for the club over a six-year period.

The 29-year-old, whose current contract runs out at the end of the season, played against his former team last weekend, helping the Clarets edge their way to a 1-0 win, an experience he admits was 'strange'.

That result, which was also the full-back's 100th appearance for his current employers, has left Burnley four points off the automatic promotion places heading into the international break.

Roberts insists he's focused on helping Scott Parker's men win their way back to the Premier League, but admits he would like to return to SA1 before hanging up his boots.

"Hopefully one day I can go back to Swansea and I can be on their team for once. There will hopefully be good memories when I do go back and play for them again," he told BBC's Feast of Football.

"But at the moment I am a Burnley player and I want to win every game and do my best for the Burnley fans and everyone associated with that club."

For the time being, Roberts has turned his attention to Wales and their ongoing UEFA Nations League campaign under Craig Bellamy.

Wales head into Saturday's trip to Turkey unbeaten under their current boss, who worked with Roberts during his time under Vincent Kompany at Burnley.

"It's been fantastic," Roberts added. "We have had a good start. We have areas where we have been fantastic and areas where we can still improve.

"We want to keep pushing to be an unbelievable team, not just a good one. We have two tough games coming up now but they are games we are all excited for."
