A DISMAL second half performance from Weymouth saw Jason Matthews side come home without any points in the National League South.

The Terras were well in the game at half time but two quickfire goals from Brandon Barzey and a debut goal from Samuel Adenola meant a third straight league defeat for the Dorset club.

Brandon Goodship did have two chances in the first half and Keelan O'Connell came off the bench to hit the woodwork but Weymouth were well beaten in what was a lacklustre second half display.

Defeat sent the Terras back to the bottom of the table as their poor league form continues - the FA Trophy victory over Yeovil now seeming a distant memory.

Matthews made two changes from that victory over the Glovers as Charlie Rowan came in for the injured Tom Bearwish, and Will Buse returned in goal after being ineligible to play against his parent club.

It was an even first half though as both teams created chances and it was the hosts who looked to land the first blow.

Calvin Brooks, wearing the captain's armband in Bearwish's absence, was called into action in the 10th minute to clear a ball fizzed into the six-yard box.

A few minutes later Ricardo German looked to find the far corner with a curling effort but Buse claimed the ball with ease.

Jaiden Bartolo was then able to pounce on a Hemel mistake and found Goodship but Tuesday night's hero was denied by Brad House.

Barzey then hit the bar with a free kick in the 20th minute before  German headed wide from close range as the hosts probed for an opener.

Buse almost got himself an assist after a wonderful delivery to Goodship but the striker's volley went narrowly wide of the post.

Hemel appealed for a penalty just before the break as Buse came together with Chris Smith - forcing both players to get treatment - but the ref was surprisingly  uninterested in pointing to the spot.

The Terras were undone in seven minutes second half minutes though as Hemel scored two quickfire goals soon after the restart.

Barzey claimed his first goal direct from a free kick as he sent his shot into the net after Jordon Thompson had brought the forward down outside the box.

Soon it was two and in the 52nd minute Barzey volleyed past Buse following a breakaway from the hosts.

Weymouth struggled to create any real chances of note and were a shadow of the team that defeated Yeovil in midweek.

As the half progressed, the hosts looked more likely to increase their lead than Weymouth did to come back and indeed that was the case.

With just under 20 minutes to go, Adenola sealed his debut for the Hertfordshire-based club as he made it 3-0. The defender took advantage of a scramble in the box after a corner and poked home from two yards.

Substitute Keelan O'Connell almost made an instant impact but was unable to find the target as his strike came back off the post before Bartolo fired the rebound over the bar.

At 3-0 the game was over and Weymouth returned to the bottom of the National League South with just 12 points from 20 games.
