'Thank God for the international break - Aston Villa need a reset!'

Unai Emery is confident Aston Villa will return to the form after the international break after his side suffered consecutive Premier League defeats for the first time in 18 months by losing to Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield - but are the supporters as confident?

We looked at the aftermath into the Liverpool defeat and the feeling among the fanbase as the club heads into the international break on a rare run of bad form.

Dog tired2 had lots of questions : A far better performance but there are some serious questions to ask of Emery now.

1) Why is Watkins starting instead of Duran? 2) Why start Bailey? 3) Why play DC in DM again when it has worked maybe once or twice without Cash as RB? 4) Why play Tielemens when he is feeling "knee pains" ? Why not start Kamara or Super John in DM instead?

5) What does Ned have to do to get a chance as RM or RB? 6) Buendia - Is he fit? If he is why not play him once in a while? 7) Is it worth dropping Bailey and playing 4-4-2 with Duran and Watkins alternating who drifts out wide, comes short etc to make it easier to play a long ball out of defence? Wasn't yesterday an ideal opportunity to do that and play Philo as a blocker on the RM as he did so successfully against Bayern?

8) Is it worth playing Maatsen as an out and out LW with Digne at LB as Ramsey isn't performing. 9) Why can't Maatsen play RB with Konsa playing in his best position? 10) Is DC a better CB on the right than Mings? Really? 11) Isn't trying the same thing time after time and expecting different results a sign of madness?

Mikecoolruler blames the lack of firepower: Sorry folks Watkins was a joke yesterday.

Emery did a decent job, bar the howlers in orchestrating the team during the first half, leaving the door open for Liverpool on multiple occasions. However, the result was very disappointing, but we actually gave Liverpool issues, if we had some half decent firepower up front we could have had a point at the very least..

Theminstrel says the club needs a plan for January: It has to be said, Liverpool are a class and a half above us in every department, I hope Villa have a plan in place for the January window, cos what we have at the moment just ain’t good enough.

Top 10 if we’re lucky, 9 at best and I’m being very generous at that

Jaydubz thinks Villa need a reset: Leon Bailey and Philogene were poor.

Playing out from the back is a disaster 9/10 times.

Getting caught on counter-attack more than once - unforgivable.

Slots comment - Villa not as aggressive as we thought. Unai take note.

Half of our set pieces were wasted with poor delivery from Digne.

Minimal attacking threat from open play. On current form Duran should start over Watkins.

Thank God for the international break. Villa need a rest and a reset.

Pedrogringo believes Villa are looking naive: Whilst the performance wasn't terrible and we didn't take a walloping we were naive and exposed too easy. Absolutely disgraceful set piece delivery, most of their breaks came from poor ball by us. Sick of Rogers getting plaudits when he can't finish a sandwich, gets in good position too often and shanks it or scuffs a weak shot. Expect better and know we can do it. Frustrating throughout

mcgrath1 commented: Watkins and Bailey offering nothing at the moment and the whole team needs more composure with final passes and finishing. Duran works hard when he comes on and links up play, he should start premiership games. We have lost all our games against top 6 opposition.

crichy stated: I'm getting really worried now,Carlos again really nearly gave away a penalty in the first few mins then just heads the ball to salah for there 2,konsa again at right back means bailey is double up on every time he gets the ball with no support, how many times did Rogers give the ball away in the first half unbelievable and the chance he missed start of second half no where near on target,Watkins again looks like the Watkins when ings was there he can't handle when there's pressure on his position,2 shots on target over 90 minutes and both from corners really worrying,we're so bad in the final third.
