Theo Walcott is set to make his Match of the Day 2 debut on Sunday night, but that hasn't stopped him from supporting his beloved Arsenal during his shift. Mikel Arteta's side ran out 1-0 winners against Tottenham in the north London derby thanks to Gabriel's second-half header.

It was a fine away performance from the Gunners, who were without some key players including Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard but that didn't prove to be a barrier to them securing three vital points. The result means Arsenal have 10 points from their opening four fixtures and sit second in the Premier League table.

As well as the 3,000 travelling Arsenal fans inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there were thousands more supporting from afar. One of those was ex-Arsenal winger Walcott, who was pictured cheering on the Gunners at the BBC studio in Manchester wearing their green, black and red away kit.

After the game, Walcott posted an Instagram story showing him celebrating Arsenal's win followed with the caption: "Come on you Gunners!!" alongside the black circle emoji and the green circle emoji.

Walcott, who announced his retirement from professional football in August 2023, appeared as a pundit on Sky Sports on a couple of occasions last season. Now, the 35-year-old is to continue his media career working with the BBC on Match of the Day 2 ahead of Sunday's episode. He is expected to analyse Arsenal's trip to Tottenham and Wolves' game against Newcastle.

Speaking on his new role, Walcott told The Mirror: "I will always like to bring a positive outlook and the insights of how I as a player would have responded in that way when a certain situation happens. I would really look at it in depth, the fact that it could be simple, like body position, or shirt pulling, something that could have just really disrupted a certain situation happening.

"We all look at TV and say 'he should have scored that' – but do we actually really break it down? Then try to take a look at why has he not hit the target? I am going to be that kind of pundit I suppose and see if it works for me."
