Theo Walcott's Brendan Rodgers Celtic exit theory given brush off by blunt Chris Sutton
Chris Sutton has rejected the suggestion that Brendan Rodgers is going anywhere anytime soon.
The Celtic manager has essentially clinched the league title after his side's 2-1 win over Rangers this past weekend to go six points clear with just two games remaining on the fixtures calendar. Rodgers, now in his second spell as Hoops boss, signed a three-year deal in the summer but has already caught the eye of clubs and pundits down south for his work in Glasgow.
Theo Walcott, the former Arsenal and England star, posed the question to Sutton on BBC's Monday Night Club about the Northern Irishman potentially returning to the Premier League again.
But Sutton gave the poser a wide berth. Walcott asked: "On Brendan Rodgers, could you see him coming back to the Premier League? There is obviously a lot of chat about certain managers coming and going. Do you think we will see him again in the Premier League?"
And Sutton responded: "I probably am better not to answer that at this stage. I think he has a three-year-deal and I don't think it's something at this stage."
Walcott pressed: "The reason I say it is because of the way he manages and structures a team. I feel like when you are talking about certain teams that are looking for a certain manager who has experience of maintaining a squad and have that aura - there are a few clubs that would bite your hand off for him."
"Yeah, further down the line that might happen, but not right now," Sutton concluded.
