Hull City full-back Cody Drameh expects the Tigers to start making their mark on the Championship table with a climb up the league ladder in the coming weeks.

Currently occupying a bottom-half position of 15th place with just three victories from their 11 league games so far this season, City's position belies the improvement Drameh believes has been made in recent weeks and is not representative of the most recent outing, a 1-1 draw midweek with second-place Burnley.

Having played first and second in the table in their last two matches, Tim Walter's side have come through with only a solitary point to show for their efforts, but with a renewed confidence they are a match for the promotion favourites and a frustration they haven't picked up more points.

With effectively almost a new team in place this summer and a new manager at the helm, Drameh acknowledges it was always going to take time for City to find a level of performance necessary to be pushing the play-off positions. But the newly-converted 22-year-old left-back now believes that time has come, and it's brought with it excitement at what could be possible.

"There's a bit of frustration where we are in the table because of the way we have played," explained Drameh, as he reflected on the campaign so far. "Definitely games like the Sunderland game and the Sheffield United game, these are games against top sides when we haven't taken points from them and that's a bit frustrating because of how we played.

"But I'm feeling very optimistic about the future. We are gelling together and we are only going to get better. We can look to start climbing the table. When you have 16 players coming into a team that's a lot of players, that's a whole starting XI and a bench. We're starting to get better and more confident, understand what the gaffer wants and we're seeing more of the fruits of our labour."

Aided by an impressive effort from City's new left-back on Wednesday night, the Tigers gave an encouraging, albeit at times frustrating, display against Burnley to come away with a point which ended a two-game losing run. A trip to mid-table Derby awaits this afternoon, followed by a home game with basement club Portsmouth. Despite being winless in their last three matches, the Tigers will arrive at the Rams full of confidence because of the way they've played.

Drameh, who is keeping Ryan Giles out the team currently, is expected to feature once again as he looks to build on his own recent good displays.

"To play how we played under the gaffer's style and tactics, we'll take a lot of confidence from that," added Drameh, reflecting on the Burnley display. "We are a work in progress and we are improving every game.

"I'm really enjoying it and it's definitely easier when you are playing. Everyone has made it very easy for me to be playing at this club.

It's a good challenge and we've healthy competition. It's up to me and I am trying to be the best I can be on the pitch. I have to keep trying to do the best I can for myself and the team and we'll see how it goes.
