Tim Walter's 'repeat button' verdict after Hull City defeat leaves them on cusp of relegation zone
Tim Walter praised both the Hull City players and their supporters despite watching his side succumb to a 2-1 defeat to West Brom at the MKM Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
City suffered a fourth defeat in their winless run which now extends to seven games and leaves the Tigers teetering on the brink of the bottom three, with only goal difference keeping them outside the drop zone after 15 games.
Karlan Grant and Josh Maja fired Albion - without a win in their previous eight games - two goals up inside the opening 20 minutes, though Xavier Simons rattled a crossbar in between those two strikes before Joao Pedro's fine header before half time halved the deficit.

Despite dominating the play in the second half, City struggled to fashion chances with Regan Slater heading over from close range before Joao Pedro, in stoppage time, couldn't salvage a point.
Walter also pinpointed the bad luck going against his team just at the minute, with Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi sidelined with ACL injuries, while Abu Kamara was injured and missed the game, along with Marvin Mehlem, Steven Alzate and Carl Rushworth, with Oscar Zambrano suspended.
Against a backdrop of frustration from the supporters, many of whom want to see a change in manager during the international break, Walter remains fully behind his players. "In the end, it's more about the performance as we played, but in the end, we don't have the luck at the moment," a frustrated Walter told Hull Live.
"We are conceding unlucky goals. It's more coincidence how the opposition is scoring. All you can do is to work against and to fight against, and that's what the boys did again; they showed character; they tried to involve our fans, and they did that today.
"They (the fans) were really brilliant, and they tried to support us; it was really brilliant to see and to hear that they tried to push us forward, and the boys appreciate it. Unfortunately, in the end, it was like pressing a repeat button, and it's the same result, and it's the same zero points as we had on Tuesday."
City's double early concession greatly hampered their hopes of getting anything from the game, but Walter refused to be drawn on the start which ultimately cost them any real hope of getting something from the game.
"About the performance, I think we don't have to talk about the thing. No, no, no," he said when it was attempted to ask about the two early goals. "For me, it's more the way to the result. It's more about how we are performing to get to the result and how we played, how we perform with that character.
"My team had less experience than maybe West Brom, so it makes me even more proud because I know that they will do it. I know because I'm so convinced in them that they want themselves to show everybody that we can beat teams like this one, and I know that they will do it."
