I was the toast of Celtic with famous Euro goal but now I'm in locked in furious ref row on the same side as Mourinho
It wasn't so long ago he was scoring a famous winner for Celtic in the Europa League.
Now, Olivier Ntcham is right at the middle of a furious Turkish football row that has his club, and Jose Mourinho, up in arms at the state of refereeing. The French midfielder is now a key player for Samsunspor and scored a penalty in their top-of-the-table clash against Galatasaray. But they lost out 3-2 in the end - and were denied what they felt was a clear penalty that would have given them the chance to equalise at 2-1 down.
Ntcham was scorer of a famous Europa League goal away to Lazio back in 2019 and has found a home again in Turkey with five goals in 11 games this season. But he was left raging at ref Halil Umut Meler who, having already given them one penalty, failed to give them another. It wasn't just the players that were unhappy either as the club let rip at ref Meler, who they felt had given Galatasaray unfair treatment during the game. It comes after Jose Mourinho let rip in a similar rant and it's all threatening to get ugly.

In a seething social media statement, Samsunspor said: "CLEAN, FAIR, JUSTICE. Before touching on the referee's wrong decisions in the match we played away against Galatasaray last night, it would be more appropriate to touch on our reservations regarding the referee assignment.
"The referee of the match was assigned to other matches our club had previously played and made wrong decisions against us. Although we had drawn attention to this issue in previous matches, the same referee was assigned to this critical match that is extremely important for us.
"The referee of the match, who made many wrong decisions in the match, used the majority of his decisions in favor of our opponent. In particular, a clear foul position against our player Olivier Ntcham in the opponent's penalty area was ignored and a penalty was not awarded.
"In another position, before our opponent's third goal, our player Lubomir Satka was clearly fouled and unfortunately the opponent team scored the goal that put them ahead immediately afterwards.
"It cannot be expected that the referee management and wrong decisions that have such an impact on the entirety and result of the match will be considered normal and ordinary.
"Moreover, the referee management and decisions in question have been discussed by everyone, both biased and impartial, in the public. For the development and brand value of Turkish football, the performance of the match and VAR referees must be reviewed and the necessary must be done urgently."
Mourinho, now manager at Fenerbahce, was similarly raging after a 3-1 defeat to Galatasaray in September, even saying he wouldn't have taken the job if he'd known how bad things were. Taking aim at another referee, he said: "I blame the Fenerbahce people that brought me here. They told me only half of the truth. They didn't tell me the whole truth because if they told me the whole truth, I wouldn't come. But, with half of the truth and my boys, we fight opponents and the system.
"He (ref Karaoglan) was alert to give the two penalty decisions which the referee didn't give and then he was having Turkish tea when it was a clear penalty for us and he didn't give it."
