Davies suffers injury setback

Isaak Davies has suffered a slight setback on his road to recovery from hamstring surgery, interim boss Omer Riza has revealed.

Davies went under the knife after suffering a nasty hamstring tear in the final game of the club's pre-season tour of Austria back in the summer and has not played a single minute this season, however he was expected to return towards the end of November. Kion Etete suffered an injury in the same match, however he is far further along in the recovery process.

Meanwhile, striker Callum Robinson remains a doubt for this weekend's clash with Norwich City, having been brought off in the 0-0 draw with West Brom at the weekend.

Giving a full injury update, Riza said: "They are all just a week further along. Kion is back in full training, so he will continue to progress with the group. He is progressing well. Isaak Davies has had a little setback which will set him back a little further. He is still rehabbing at the moment.

"Rambo (Aaron Ramsey) is the same, he is working towards getting himself back in contention within the next three, four, five weeks. (Ryotaro) Tsunoda is training now. He has done a lot of work with the S&C. He might come back into the group, with the under-21s and looking strong.

"Rallsy (Joe Ralls) is in a good place. He is on the pitch, running and looking hard - he could be in and around the Blackburn game - we won't push him.

"Callum Robinson has got a slight little knock on his Achilles at the moment so we are monitoring that. He could potentially be a doubt. A lot of the boys are in good form at the moment so you don't want to lose players. Cal has been integral and I hope he's OK.

"I don't think [Ramsey] will be (in the Wales squad). He might be in the respect of being a senior player or a coaching capacity, but playing-wise, I can't see that."

Chambers: Millwall game the turning point

Centre-back Calum Chambers believes the fight the team showed in the win over Millwall was the catalyst for the club's changing fortunes over the last month.

The Bluebirds earned their first win of the season at the seventh time of asking, with Perry Ng's header against the Lions enough to earn City all three points. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here.

Cardiff have not lost a game since then, conceding just one goal in the process. Given how porous the defence was at the start of the season, it's been a major improvement.

Chambers has improved along with the rest of the defensive unit and believes the way the team pulled together in that clash with Millwall sparked this impressive run of form.

"It's both sides of the game you have to get right and a balance you have to have. We've improved that massively," he said. "I'm very happy with that but it's a team effort collectively.

"The defensive side of the game - Millwall here at home on a Tuesday night was a turning point. It was a game where everyone had to dig in. That's what we look at now defending as a collective moving forward.

"We are showing both sides of the game at the minute. We are creating chances but showing defensive ruthlessness. Everyone is buying into that. We are doing that well at the minute and it's promising.

"The turning point was learning how to keep a clean sheet and win a game at home to Millwall. It made everyone realise what it took to win and keep a clean sheet. We've taken that attitude and desire into every game since then."

Norwich boss on 'attacking' Cardiff

Norwich City boss Johannes Hoff Thorup believes Cardiff represent "tough" opposition for his side this weekend and cited their attacking capabilities.

The Bluebirds have shifted from their negative start to the season and look far more threatening in attack under Omer Riza. But Thorup, who himself is unbeaten in seven matches, believes the Canaries can exploit City's attacking full-backs.

“They are an attacking team, who like to bring their full-backs forward," Thorup said. "This will give us some opportunities on the counter if we are good enough defensively. They are in form at the moment, so it will be tough for us.”

Norwich will be without captain Kenny McLean after his red card against Middlesbrough last weekend and Thorup admits his team will have to adapt without one of their key players.

“We have to keep open (to changing formation)," he added. "We need to open doors for more variations for games and in-game. You cannot start with that as a new coach, as they need to understand your principles first.”

Kadeem Harris trains with League Two club

Former Cardiff City winger Kadeem Harris is training with Carlisle United, according to The News and Star.

Harris played 79 times for Cardiff before leaving for Sheffield Wednesday following the Bluebirds' relegation from the Premier League back in 2019.

The 31-year-old then embarked on a move to Metalist Kharkiv, becoming the first English player to play in the Ukrainian top flight. However, that move would prove to be ill-fated, with a war with Russia breaking out during his time there. You can read WalesOnline's interview with Harris about his time there during the conflict.

The winger was allowed to leave Kharkiv in 2022 and moved to Turkey for Samsunspor. He also represented Bandırmaspor and Şanlıurfaspor in the second tier there, too.

But Şanlıurfaspor released him back in July and Harris is back in the country looking for a fresh start and he has teamed up with Mike Williamson's Carlisle, according to reports.

The League Two side are currently struggling near the bottom of the Football League, however, with the Brunton Park outfit sitting 23rd in the table.
