Tonight's Swansea City news as European plan hits snag and cult striker announces retirement
Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City news for Monday, November 11.
Euro plan hits snag
Swansea City's bid to enter the Welsh League Cup and earn a possible route into Europe has reportedly hit a snag.
The Swans, along with the EFL's three other Welsh clubs, are understood to be exploring the possibility of entering the competition, which has until now been open to clubs in the domestic Welsh pyramid.

Were it to receive the green light, the tournament would potentially offer teams a route into the UEFA Conference League, but the proposals are believed to have run into difficulties.
According to the Daily Mail, the Professional Game Board have expressed several concerns, chiefly the impact an EFL side in Europe would have on the fixture list, as well as the potential unfair financial advantages Welsh sides would be able to enjoy.
As a result, the Football Association is holding further talks with key stakeholders, including the EFL and the Premier League.
Gomis announces retirement
Former Swansea City striker Bafetimbi Gomis has announced his retirement from football at the age of 39.
The striker signed for the Swans from Lyon in 2014, and spent two years in SA1, netting 17 goals.
After leaving for Marseille on loan, Gomis went on to enjoy spells at Galatasaray, Al-Hilal and, most recently, Kawasaki Frontale.
“I have an announcement to make. I wanted to make the most of this evening to announce something – my retirement. I think today is a symbolic day, a unique day between two clubs that saw me grow, that gave me everything,” he told DAZN during their coverage of the clash between his former clubs Lyon and St Etienne.
“It wasn’t an easy decision. My heart is still there and football will continue to flow through my veins […] I will open up a new chapter in my life but I’ll stay for other projects in football.”
January and February TV picks revealed
The second south Wales derby of the season is among four Swansea City games moved for live tv coverage in the new year.
The clash with the Bluebirds will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Football, and remains on its original date of Saturday, January 18, albeit with an earlier kick-off time of 12.30pm.
The trip to Norwich City will also now kick-off at 12.30pm the following Saturday, and will be shown live on Sky Sports +.
Swansea City’s trip to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City has moved from Saturday, February 8 to Sunday, February 9, and will now start at 12pm having been chosen by Sky Sports Football.
That means the following midweek clash at home to Sheffield Wednesday will now be held on Wednesday, February 12, with kick-off staying at 7.45pm.

Key hurting from Clarets defeat
Swansea City star Josh Key admits the circumstances of the defeat to Burnley will be tough to swallow, but insists there are plenty of positives to take.
The Swans produced an admirable performance at Turf Moor, and were within a whisker of claiming a well deserved point before Jay Rodriguez slotted home a controversial penalty.
Key, who was a stand out performer on the day, admits there's no shortage of disappointment, but says there are some aspects of the team's performance that can be built on further after the international break.
“There are a lot of emotions. We are disappointed, angry and frustrated,” he said.
“Those last-minute decisions are very tough to take when you are on the wrong end of them, particularly when you have put in a good performance.
“But that is football, and we have to deal with it and move on.
“We can’t change the outcome but I felt there were a lot of positives to take from that.
“We take a lot of pride in our defensive record as a team, and again we have limited a team who a lot of people fancy to be competing up the top of the table.
“We should have had a point, and we know we should have taken more points from some of the games before this.
“So, we have to move on and focus on performing consistently.”
