Torquay United 2 Horsham 0 - Gulls progress in FA Trophy
Torquay United will go to Southern League side Gosport Borough in the last 32 of the FA Trophy in January after a comfortable 2-0 win against Horsham at Plainmoor tonight.
In a game that was supposed to be played on Saturday, before the red weather warning put paid to that, Torquay weren't at their best in a patchy first half against the Isthmian League side - but an early goal by Brad Ash set the scene for a second half in which they and rarely looked threatened, with Dan Hayfield getting the second goal in the 77th minute.
Wotton made three changes to the last starting line up, with three in: Ed Palmer, Oscar Threlkeld and Ash, and three out: Sam Dreyer, Lirak Hasani, who started his three-game suspension tonight, and Cody Cooke, who was rested.

A shot by Omar Mussa in the second minute was deflected straight to the Horsham goalkeeper Lewis Carey as Torquay started well, moving the ball forward into good positions. Bobby-Joe Taylor shot over with a free kick from the edge of Torquay's box in the sixth minute.
A Jordan Young shot was stopped by Carey. In the 19th minute a low cross by Mussa was just a foot too far in front of Jordan Thomas at the back post. Taylor shot wide in the 22nd minute. Ash shot into the side-netting a minute later.
Torquay were having moments of sloppiness now and Lucas Rodrigues shot wide in the 32nd minute. The same player had a great chance just before half time but drove the ball wide. John Brivio shot straight at Hamon after beating Thomas down the left. It wasn't the greatest half of football.
Matt Carson replaced Jay Foulston for the start of the second half. Carson's first act was to send in a lovely curling cross into the box for Ash to head into the far corner for 1-0. Dean Moxey followed Carson onto the pitch in the 55th minute with Torquay changing to a back-five. Young came off.
Ash shot at the goalkeeper when he should have passed to Hayfield in space; Mussa shot wide. Torquay were getting the ball forward better and Horsham were beginning to pick up yellow cards. In the 68th minute, another Carson cross was cleared to the edge of the box and Hayfield smashed the ball home.
Montel Agyemong shot over for Horsham in a rare second-half chance for the visitors - before Mussa was fouled on the right hand side of the 18-yard line. Finn Tonks came on for Threlkeld before the free kick was taken in the 77th minute - and Jenkins Davies' cross was deflected into a defender, and into the goalkeeper's hands.
Keke Jeffers came on for Ash in the 82nd minute. Hamon got down low to stop a Taylor strike across goal - but it was fairly comfortable by now. Four minutes were added on and Horsham did try to get something back - with Hamon having to make a good save from Ogyemong to keep his sheet clean.
