Former Tottenham Hotspur defender David Tuttle has been confirmed as Aylesbury's permanent manager after a successful interim spell that saw his new team avoid relegation from the Southern League.

Tuttle, 52, was instrumental in leading the team to six victories, four draws and five defeats over his initial 15 matches as caretaker boss - a feat that earned 22 points. Tuttle had previously been at the helm at AFC Aldermaston for four years before taking on the role at Aylesbury.

Last weekend's 1-0 home win to Biggleswade FC officially ended any remaining relegation worries, with the Ducks ultimately finishing six points clear of the drop and in 15th place in the SPL Division One Central.

Tuttle told the club's social media channels after the match: "It wasn't a great game but we got the goal and didn't concede and it was a comfortable win."

Tuttle joined Spurs at the age of 18 where he spent three years. He struggled to break into the first team and made just 18 appearances before being loaned out to Peterborough United.

Consequently, he completed a transfer move to Sheffield United and then Crystal Palace in the space of three years. He also played for Charlton Athletic, Barnsley, Millwall, Wycombe Wanders and finished his playing career at Dorking in 2007 at the age of 35.

Aylesbury became the ninth team he has coached so far, after spells with Swindon Town, Henley Town, Newbury, Burnham and Millwall.
