Tottenham 0-0 AC Milan LIVE! Spurs crash out - Champions League result, match stream, latest updates today
Spurs trudged to a lifelife 0-0 draw to confirm their exit from the Champions League as AC Milan reached the quarter-finals for the first time in 11 years. The result was met with loud boos from the fans at the full-time whistle and throw further doubt on Antonio Conte's future.
Spurs failed to muster a meaningful attempt on target in the first half as their frustration boiled over with Conte booked for letting his emotions get the better of him. The subdued hosts were not helped by having defender Cristian Romero sent off for a second yellow card in the 78th minute.
Milan could have made it a more comfortable night had they taken a few of the good chances they created but in the end a masterclass of defensive game management saw them through. While Stefano Pioli's Milan can look forward with optimism, Tottenham's season is fizzling out after a dismal week in which they also lost in the FA Cup to second-tier Sheffield United and to Wolves in the Premier League.
Tottenham vs AC Milan latest news
Kick-off time: 8.10pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
How to watch: BT Sport
RED CARD! Romero sent off
Tottenham Hotspur FC 0 - 0 AC Milan
22:24 , Alex Young
Here are Dom Smith’s player ratings.
Full-time!
22:07 , Alex Young
97min: Huge boos meet the final whistle. And I don’t blame the fans.
An unacceptable display.
22:02 , Alex Young
94min: SO CLOSE! Kane’s superb header is denied by an even better save!
22:02 , Alex Young
93min: Last chance for Spurs? Son with a free kick...
21:59 , Alex Young
90min: Six minutes added on.
Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
21:54 , Alex Young
Sanchez on for Kulusevski to boos. If there was ever a time to throw caution to wind, surely it is now?!
21:53 , Alex Young
83min: Biiiiig shouts for a penalty for Spurs as Sanchez goes down in the area, but the referee is not interested.
Looked soft.
21:52 , Alex Young
81min: Loud boos as Kulusevski is replaced by Sanchez following the red card.
RED CARD!
21:48 , Alex Young
77min: Romero has been sent off for another reckless challenge... and he may have injured himself in the process.
Milan enjoying every passing second.
21:45 , Alex Young
76min: Origi the next player to come on.
21:43 , Alex Young
74min: Spurs earn a corner from the free kick... but Son sends it straight out of play.
21:42 , Alex Young
71min: Richarlison wins a free kick. If he looked left, Son was in acres but he turns right and is fouled.
21:38 , Alex Young
68min: Emerson makes way, so Spurs go 4-2-4?
21:37 , Alex Young
67min: Milan so dangerous on the break and Forster is forced into another good save by Giroud.
Richarlison is coming on.
21:34 , Alex Young
65min: Best chance of the game as Hojbjerg force Maignan into a good save at the near post.
The noise gets louder.
Kane almost gets to the subsequent corner but Milan clear.
21:32 , Alex Young
63min: Spurs have improved since Porro has come on - Perisic was very ineffectual - but they are running out of time.
Time for Richarlison? I can’t see Son or Kulusevski doing much.
21:30 , Alex Young
60min: Straight into the wall.
21:28 , Alex Young
59min: Kane wins a free kick in the edge of the area. Is this Son territory? Porro fancies it too.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
21:26 , Alex Young
Perisic got caught in the centre circle by Pierre Kalulu in the opening minutes and didn't look right, so the introduction of Pedro Porro was likely enforced. Emerson has gone over to left wing-back. It's radical but maybe Conte could have brought on an extra attacker rather than shoehorning a right footed player at left wing-back.
21:21 , Alex Young
53min: Perisic makes way.
21:21 , Alex Young
52min: Superb save from Forster to deny Diaz after a Milan break.
Second half is already more frantic. Porro is being readied, too.
21:20 , Alex Young
50min: Spurs fans urging their team on, which was lacking in the first half. It’s already getting a bit scrappy and Milan are ready to pounce on the break.
21:17 , Alex Young
48min: Spurs showing more urgency - which isn’t hard, to be honest - as they win the ball high up in Milan’s final third and Kulusevski sends in a good delivery.
Nothing doing, yet, though.
Second half
21:14 , Alex Young
46min: Nope, no changes.
Spurs have 45 minutes to save their season.
21:13 , Alex Young
The teams are back out. Any changes? it doesn’t look like it.
Dan’s thoughts
21:09 , Alex Young
The most generous thing I can say is Spurs have raised the tempo at the start of the secondnd half in their last two home games and maybe they’ll do the same? But so far a very predictable and pedestrian display against a Milan side who don’t need to do any more.
Half-time
20:59 , Alex Young
47min: Boos meet the half-time whistle.
20:57 , Alex Young
45min: Two minutes added on.
20:54 , Alex Young
43min: Another shot on target for Spurs, but it’s easy pickings for the keeper as Perisic’s weak header bounces onto the pitch and into his hands.
20:51 , Alex Young
39min: The home crowd getting very frustrated with Spurs’ slow build-up play.
Kulusevski eventually looks to spot Son’s run into the area, but the pass is easily cut out and then he fouls Giroud.
It’s pretty uninspired stuff from Spurs so far.
20:47 , Alex Young
36min: Finally Spurs force a save out of Maignan as Kane's drilled cross is deflected.
The following corner is again wasted, though, as this time Kulusevski sends one way too long.
20:45 , Alex Young
34min: Milan happy to play slow and frustrate Spurs, and it’s working so far. Not too much going on at the moment.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
20:43 , Alex Young
If Spurs make it through, they are looking at a back three of Sanchez, Dier and Davies for the quarter-final first leg after bookings for Romero and Lenglet tonight. Hardly ideal, although Spurs are a long way from thinking about the next round yet.
20:41 , Alex Young
30min: Spurs break through Kane again, who again spots Kulusevski storming down the left before slipping and letting Milan mop up. Cue groans from the home fans.
20:38 , Alex Young
27min: Emerson is down and has stayed down. Pedro Porro is sent to warm up.
20:37 , Alex Young
25min: Spurs win a corner off Son’s speculative effort. The forward takes the set-piece but his delivery is well over the head of everyone. A waste.
20:34 , Alex Young
23min: Conte has also been booked, for his reaction to Lenglet’s booking.
20:32 , Alex Young
22min: Now Lenglet gets booked and he will miss the next game too, should Spurs go through.
20:32 , Alex Young
21min: Kane almost frees Hojbjerg into the area but Milan block the pass, then Davies has a chance to run into space on the left but a heavy touch sees the ball run out of play.
Not quite clicking for Spurs at the moment.
20:30 , Alex Young
19min: The resulting free kick is worked well to the right where Messias is unmarked, but he goes for a shot rather than drill the ball across the six-yard box and the chance goes begging.
A big chance, that.
20:28 , Alex Young
17min: Romero is booked and he will miss the first leg of the quarter-final, should Spurs get there.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
20:25 , Alex Young
The pitch is very slow and soggy after a day's rainfall and it is impacting Spurs' attempts to play through the thirds quickly. A slower, stodgier game should suit Milan.
20:23 , Alex Young
12min: A good break from Spurs through Kane, who cross the halfway line and feeds Kulusevski down the right. The winger looks up and opts for Emerson arriving late on the edge of the area, but his shot is deflected into the keeper’s arms.
20:21 , Alex Young
10min: Skipp perhaps lucky to avoid a booking after tough foul on Leao. Spurs don’t need anyone walking on a tightrope just yet, especially one of their two midfielders.
20:20 , Alex Young
8min: Spurs starting to push Milan further and further back, without yet testing Maignan in goal. Kane with a few nice touches, of course.
20:17 , Alex Young
6min: The home crowd is loud and gets even louder as Perisic flicks the ball on for Kulusevski to run onto, but Tomori mops up before the referee calls the play back for a foul on the Croatian.
20:16 , Alex Young
5min: Milan enjoying more of the ball in the early stages. Spurs don’t seem too concerned yet, though.
20:14 , Alex Young
3min: Early Milan pressure as Hernandez wins a free kick around 40 yards out. It’s floated into the area but Lenglet makes easy work of it.
Dom Smith at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
20:12 , Alex Young
Former Real Madrid winger Brahim Diaz scored the only goal of the first leg in the first half, but MIlan’s real firepower out wide will come from the other side, and from Portugal international Rafael Leao. He is a frightening player to defend against, and Emerson Royal will have his work cut out stopping him tonight.
Kick-off!
20:11 , Alex Young
1min: Here we go!
20:05 , Alex Young
Here come the teams.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
19:59 , Alex Young
Fikayo Tomori’s return to London and the XI is at the expense of veteran Simon Kjaer, who I thought did an excellent job on Harry Kane in the first leg. The Dane was tight to Kane all night and not afraid to get physical. Presumably that job will be partly Tomori’s this evening.
19:58 , Alex Young
Antonio Conte is currently making his first pre-match team talk since the first leg of this tie. Will it work? It needs to.
19:51 , Alex Young
Asked if Spurs will start aggressively tonight, Conte tells BT Sport: "We will try to do everything for the win."
Kick-off in just under 20 minutes.
19:42 , Alex Young
Spurs have won their last three home games all without conceding - against Manchester City, West Ham and Chelsea.
The less said about their away form, the better. Still, surely a good omen for tonight.
Glen Hoddle to BT Sport
19:37 , Alex Young
The former Spurs manager thinks it’s all to play for.
It is nicely balanced this game. Milan didn't look in control of that first game. The two chances at the end for them ... It might have been game, set and match if they go in. But this is a really nicely balanced tie.
19:26 , Alex Young
Kick-off has been delayed, but only by 10 minutes. New kick-off time is 8.10pm.
19:14 , Alex Young

Conte’s Return
18:38 , Alex Young
Tottenham will have Antonio Conte present for the first time since the 1-0 loss in Milan on February 14 and Heung-min Son believes it will lift the group.
"I am glad to have him sitting next to me," Son said at Tuesday's press conference. "He is back and bringing good energy for the team. When he was not here the staff did a good job but obviously when the boss is not here it is different.
"Yesterday we could feel the energy and his passion again. With him on the touchline, the players will be more comfortable and he will give us an amazing boost and an amazing energy."
AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli also believes Conte's return will boost Spurs but warned his team would not sit back in their efforts to reach the last eight.
"Well, yes a coach being in the dugout is always important," Pioli said. "Conte, there is no doubt will represent some added value by being present, but in any case we are playing against a tough opponent, who will be well prepared and very motivated.
"We expect Spurs to put our ball carriers under more pressure compared to what they did in Milan. I think they will be tough, strong and Tottenham if you look at their data, particularly in the second half, are a top, top team so we need to be really careful playing them."

It’s a wet night in north London. Kick-off in just under 90 minutes.

Score prediction
18:08 , Alex Young
We may be reading the tea leaves wrong, here, but it seems Spurs need a few bad results to kick them into gear at the moment - so will back-to-back defeats lead to a much-needed win tonight?
As frustrating as that is for supporters, it is at least a good omen for tonight.
Tottenham to win 3-1.
Double boost for Milan
18:00 , Alex Young
AC Milan have been boosted as forwards Brahim Diaz and Olivier Giroud will both be available for the clash after they rejoined the team in training on Tuesday.
"They're both doing well, all 24 players can play from the start, then I'll make the choices," manager Stefano Pioli said at his press conference.
Both players were a doubt for the London trip after Diaz missed the loss at Fiorentina with a knee problem while Giroud did not train on Monday due to flu.
Dier out as Royal returns?
17:47 , Alex Young
Eric Dier is suspended for the game and that means Conte, who is expected back on the touchline, is almost certain to start with the same back three who started Saturday’s loss at Wolves.
Clement Lenglet, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies are thought to be the most likely to start at the back, with Emerson Royal returning in place of Pedro Porro despite his decent display at Molineux.
The biggest selection headache comes up front, with Heung-min Son so ineffective against Wolves. Richarlison and Arnaut Danjuma are both pushing to start alongside Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevksi.
