Tottenham vs Fulham LIVE! Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today

Tottenham vs Fulham LIVE!

Goals from key duo Son Heung-min and James Maddison sent Tottenham back to the Premier League summit with a professional 2-0 win over Fulham. Spurs had claimed top spot before the international break, but watched rivals Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all leapfrog them across the weekend to raise the stakes of Monday's London derby.

Fulham proved no match for Ange Postecoglou's resurgent team and after Son grabbed his seventh goal of an impressive season in the 36th minute, he turned provider after half-time with an assist for partner in crime Maddison. It was the latest example of the pair combining and a further nod to the present with Son's once-famed partnership with Harry Kane, now of Bayern Munich, fast becoming a distant memory.

James Maddison gives his reaction

22:17

"Really happy, all my goal contributions have been away so it's nice to get off the mark here.

"It maybe felt a little disjointed, Fulham didn't really press so our centre-backs could walk up the pitch with the ball. I dropped deeper and we got more success that way.

"The gaffer's fine with that as long as there's structure to it.

"His teams have always been a front-foot pressing team, it's non-negotiable. It's on my mind and the team's, no matter what the scoreline is.

"It's how I nearly got another goal at the end... if Sonny doesn't get in the way."

Ange Postecoglou: Record-breaker!

Party atmosphere in north London!

22:04 , Marc Mayo

Lots of Tottenham fans are still in the ground to clap off their players. Nothing overzealous, but worthy celebrations in the Spurs stands tonight.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | Full time!

21:57 , Marc Mayo

Spurs go top of the league courtesy of goals from Heung-min Son and James Maddison!

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 90+6 mins

21:55 , Marc Mayo

James Maddison awarded the Man of the Match award. No complaints here.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 90+4 mins

21:53 , Marc Mayo

Harry Wilson sees a shot blocked from a deep cross before Emerson Royal runs the ball forward... and gives it away.

Not seen a ruthless edge from the Spurs subs, and we know that's perhaps their biggest weakness looking ahead this season.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 90+1 mins

21:50 , Marc Mayo

"We are top of the league" begins to ring around the stadium - not quite wholeheartedly, mind.

Spurs fans not quite believing in that particular pursuit just yet, maybe!

Seven minutes added on.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 90 mins

21:50 , Marc Mayo

Micky van de Ven caught in possession by his own 18-yard line but Tottenham work their way out of it.

Alejo Veliz is played in behind on the counter, but offside.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 88 mins

21:47 , Marc Mayo

Another opening for Fulham as Raul Jimenez's smart backheel finds Tom Cairney in the box... he has to stretch to shoot and the ball pops up easily enough for the keeper.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 86 mins

21:46 , Marc Mayo

Booking for time-wasting from the goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.

That's his second of the season, he's no stranger to this game!

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 84 mins

21:44 , Marc Mayo

CHANCE!

Tottenham want a free-kick for a late tackle but play goes on and Guglielmo Vicario is forced into a sharp reaction stop to deny Raul Jimenez!

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 82 mins

21:42 , Marc Mayo

Perhaps the international period at the back of Ange Postecoglou's mind there, two of these coming off were away on long trips during the recent break.

This game certainly won't be lost by Spurs failing to score a third, to be fair.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 80 mins

21:40 , Marc Mayo

Triple change incoming as Brennan Johnson, Giovani Lo Celso and Alejo Veliz await on the touchline for Tottenham.

Richarlison, Heung-min Son (who looks gutted to be coming off) and James Maddison are off.

Tom Cairney replaces Joao Palhinha for Fulham.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 75 mins

21:36 , Marc Mayo

CHANCE!

Calvin Bassey again at the heart of a Fulham error, with a poor control which lets James Maddison steal in...

The Spurs man and Heung-min Son almost trip over each other as Maddison's shot is denied and Richarlison rifles over.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 72 mins

21:32 , Marc Mayo

Ange Postecoglou stands, arms wide open, as he expresses his disdain at a sloppy Tottenham pass in midfield.

Fulham bring Harrison Reed on for Sasa Lukic to energise their midfield.

Highlights: James Maddison goal for 2-0

21:30 , Marc Mayo

A carbon copy of the first goal!

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 68 mins

21:28 , Marc Mayo

If anything, Tottenham are taking things a bit too easy in front of goal.

Dejan Kulusevski, not for the first time tonight, makes the wrong decision in the box and lazily misses a pass to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on the overlap.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 66 mins

21:26 , Marc Mayo

A slow, rousing rendition of 'When The Spurs Go Marching In' ringing around the ground underlines the comfort these home fans have as this game enters its final third.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 62 mins

21:22 , Marc Mayo

Injury concern for Spurs as Pape Sarr is taken off after treatment, Oliver Skipp a like-for-like replacement.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid replaced by Harry Wilson for Fulham.

Dom Smith at Tottenham Stadium

21:20 , Marc Mayo

So disappointing for Marco Silva that the change he has been forced into making — bringing Bassey in at right centre-back — has been what has killed them.

His lax passes out from the back have been the catalysts for both of Spurs’ goals. Desperately disappointing for the travelling away fans — especially those who walked here from Craven Cottage for charity!

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 59 mins

21:19 , Marc Mayo

Cristian Romero the next called into action as he flies in with an accurate sliding tackle on Willian, who had grabbed the ball from a loose Guglielmo Vicario header!

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 58 mins

21:18 , Marc Mayo

Beautiful clearing header from Pape Sarr, leaping in just as Raul Jimenez waited at the far post to bury a header.

We're about to see some 2-0 football from Fulham as they look for a way back into proceedings.

Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Stadium

21:17 , Marc Mayo

Spurs double their lead with a goal almost identical to the Son's first. Bassey loses possession playing out, Spurs ruthlessly capitalise, this time Maddison getting just rewards for his superb display with a cool finish.

Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | 56 mins

21:16 , Marc Mayo

Get the dartboard out!

James Maddison rolls in a finish after a lay-off from Heung-min Son, following Spurs once again winning it back off a loose Calvin Bassey pass.

A change before the restart with Emerson Royal on for Destiny Udogie. An injury, perhaps?

GGGOOOOAAALLLL!!! Tottenham 2-0 Fulham | Maddison, 54'

21:14 , Marc Mayo

FULHAM CAUGHT OUT AGAIN!

James Maddison with an easy finish!

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | 53 mins

21:13 , Marc Mayo

Richarlison pings a shot from the edge of the box way over the bar and, up the other end, Fulham have a dangerous free-kick for a foul on Joao Palhinha.

A bit too central to be an easy clip into the box, Willian delivers and it's Richarlison with a double-header to clear.

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | 50 mins

21:10 , Marc Mayo

Awesome pass by Joao Palhinha spotting Bobby De Cordova-Reid running into the box... but he fails to control it!

Destiny Udogie mops up well, his opponent would have been right in on goal then.

Cries of "come on Fulham" from the away end.

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | 49 mins

21:09 , Marc Mayo

A calm start from both teams, Spurs keeping possession with a good press from the away team.

Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Stadium

21:06 , Marc Mayo

Double change for Fulham at the break, with Iwobi and Jimenez on for Pereira and Carlos Vinicius. Marco Silva obviously not happy with what he has seen in the first half.

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | Kick-off!

21:05 , Marc Mayo

I said Fulham lacked presence in the middle during that half and we have two changes at the break.

Carlos Vinicius and Andreas Pereira off, Raul Jimenez and Alex Iwobi on!

Second half coming up...

21:04

Tributes from Pat Jennings and Martin Chivers on the pitch during the break as Spurs pay tribute to the late Sir Bobby Charlton.

Highlights: Heung-min Son nets the opening goal

21:00

Spot Micky van de Ven high up the pitch to win it back and a nifty assist from Richarlison.

Not all doom and gloom for Fulham

20:57

With a makeshift defence against a top team, the visitors have by and large guarded their goal rather well.

The counter-attack looks a promising avenue for Fulham but they lack presence in the box to make it pay.

Spurs will be happy with that

20:54 , Marc Mayo

That half was nudging into 'frustrating' territory for the hosts until that goal.

Heung-min Son has looked razor sharp tonight and Tottenham are good value for their lead.

But Fulham have had their moments and a second goal will likely be needed for these three points.

Dom Smith at Tottenham Stadium

20:50 , Marc Mayo

Tottenham ahead at the break, and it’s been a case of them slowly and increasingly asserting their dominance over the course of the 45 minutes.

Fulham started well but have broken away at too much pace for their own good. Defending comically bad for the goal that separates the sides, it has to be said.

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | Half time!

20:49 , Marc Mayo

Late penalty appeal as Calvin Bassey is second to the ball but doesn't make any proper contact with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg... nothing in it.

That's the break!

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | 45 mins

20:48 , Marc Mayo

CHANCE!

Dejan Kulusevski beats a man in the box and should pull the trigger but opts for a pass, which is scrambled away by the defence.

Two minutes added on.

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | 44 mins

20:47 , Marc Mayo

Willian continues to be Fulham's big threat wide on the left but an aimless poke into the box is dealt with by Pape Sarr.

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | 42 mins

20:44 , Marc Mayo

Fulham now with the chance to reply as a Willian cross is headed back into the six-yard box by Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

Destiny Udogie's inadvertent arm (in a very natural position) turns it out for a corner. The Cottagers can't make anything of it, though.

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | 40 mins

20:42 , Marc Mayo

How's it not 2-0?!

Spurs burst into the box through Destiny Udogie, fed by James Maddison and Heung-min Son... but Fulham scramble the ball away and Dejan Kulusevski's shot is deflected wide.

The corner is cleared deep and Pedro Porro's drive is flicked wide for another set play...

Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | 38 mins

20:40 , Marc Mayo

Spurs are straight on the front foot and a brilliant Calvin Bassey header prevents Dejan Kulusevski's fine cross meeting Heung-min Son.

A real goal saver!

GGGOOOOAAALLLL!!!! Tottenham 1-0 Fulham | Son, 36'

20:38 , Marc Mayo

SON CATCHES THE COTTAGERS NAPPING!

Calvin Bassey's pass out from the back is snaffled up by the Tottenham midfield and fed quickly into Heung-min Son, who spins and curls an effort around the goalkeeper!

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 36 mins

20:37 , Marc Mayo

Big cry of 'REAM' from the Fulham end as Tim Ream steps in well on Heung-min Son.

The away end is then up in arms as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg lunges in late on Willian. He pulled out a touch but still a clear booking, duly received.

Dom Smith at Tottenham Stadium

20:36 , Marc Mayo

Tottenham starting to dominate this match now, with Richarlison, Kulusevski and Maddison having a growing influence on proceedings.

Fulham have defended resolutely so far, but are yet to counter-attack effectively when they get the chance — and there have been chances.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 33 mins

20:35 , Marc Mayo

Minor handball appeal after Destiny Udogie's cut-back hits a sliding Calvin Bassey. Not convinced.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 31 mins

20:33 , Marc Mayo

A bit more pace in Tottenham's attacks now after Fulham's gain in confidence has seen them step out of defence a bit.

Heung-min Son tries a snapshot from James Maddison's quick pass but rolls it gently at the goalkeeper.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 29 mins

20:32 , Marc Mayo

CHANCE!

Great break led by Dejan Kulusevski who cuts in and finds Richarlison, stepping perfectly onto the shot in the D.

But he places his shot wide! Best chance since the early minutes for Spurs.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 27 mins

20:29 , Marc Mayo

Bernd Leno called into action with James Maddison teeing up Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for a drive from 22 yards... straight down the goalkeeper's throat. Well hit, though.

Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Stadium

20:27 , Marc Mayo

In the absence of Yves Bissouma, Maddison is dropping deeper than usual to dictate play from the middle, with left-back Udogie often moving into the No.10 spot.

Fulham have done a good job of dampening the atmosphere a touch after Spurs' fast start.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 23 mins

20:26 , Marc Mayo

A bit of a roar from the Tottenham fans as an attack forms in a bid to break this deadlock.

Not many chances forged since the early stages for the hosts.

Dom Smith at Tottenham Stadium

20:22 , Marc Mayo

Willian certainly being targeted by Spurs here in the opening 20 minutes. Tottenham clearly see him as a danger man for Fulham, with the former Chelsea and Arsenal winger fouled twice in quick succession.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 18 mins

20:21 , Marc Mayo

Another moment from Fulham as Timothy Castagne bombs in and sees a cross flicked over by Carlos Vinicius.

There is certainly something about the Cottagers on the counter-attack tonight.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 16 mins

20:19 , Marc Mayo

Spurs' holding midfielders have given their full-backs so much licence to attack, Pedro Porro is being well covered by Pape Sarr behind him.

Destiny Udogie is also playing high, even chasing Calvin Bassey down in the Fulham box.

Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Stadium

20:15 , Marc Mayo

Spurs missed a host of chances in the first ten minutes against Luton last time out and it's been a similar story here.

They're all over Fulham but Son and Van de Ven have already squandered good openings. That said, Vicario has just pulled off a magnificent save to deny Palhinha, continuing the Italian's strong start to life at Spurs.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 12 mins

20:14 , Marc Mayo

SAVE!

Calvin Bassey is almost caught in possession by his own box but Fulham come forward well.

Cristian Romero clears the counter for a corner and Guglielmo Vicario produces a great stop to deny Joao Palhinha's header!

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 9 mins

20:12 , Marc Mayo

The free-kick is rolled back by James Maddison for Dejan Kulusevski. Shot blocked.

Dom Smith at Tottenham Stadium

20:11 , Marc Mayo

The right call from Anthony Taylor, who decides Robinson did foul Porro, but just outside the box, so gives a free-kick.

Spurs have started more brightly here.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 8 mins

20:10 , Marc Mayo

Penalty appeal!

Pedro Porro felled by Antonee Robinson on the edge of the box - just outside though. Free kick only.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 7 mins

20:10 , Marc Mayo

Joao Palhinha concedes another free-kick in a good spot for Spurs, although it's a bit further out for James Maddison.

Clipped in deep, it's headed back to Micky van de Ven who shoots over the bar! Half chance, that.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 4 mins

20:06 , Marc Mayo

Not a good training ground routine from Tottenham...

James Maddison slings a pass to Destiny Udogie despite being in a shooting position - his teammate isn't ready for it and scuffs his control. Danger over.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 3 mins

20:05 , Marc Mayo

SAVE!

Lovely ball through the middle from James Maddison finds Heung-min Son in the box... he tries to open up his body but is well denied by Bernd Leno.

The play is pulled back for a foul on Maddison.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | 2 mins

20:04 , Marc Mayo

Heung-min Son through the middle for Tottenham with Richarlison out wide and supported by the floating James Maddison on that left flank.

Joao Palhinha is lurking with intent whenever the England international pops up.

Tottenham 0-0 Fulham | Kick-off!

20:02 , Marc Mayo

Referee Anthony Taylor blows his whistle and the Cottagers the ball rolling!

Now, the game

Dom Smith at Tottenham Stadium

19:55 , Marc Mayo

Big night for Fulham’s £18.5million summer signing Calvin Bassey, who is making only his second start since joining from Ajax, having also started in August’s creditable 2-2 draw at Arsenal. He slots in next to Tim Ream, with Issa Diop and Tosin Adarabioyo both out injured.

Reminder: Spurs can go top tonight!

19:53 , Marc Mayo

A draw won't do it as Manchester City hold the goal difference advantage.

That would leave Tottenham, Arsenal and City level on 21 points with Liverpool one back on 20...

A win would mean a two-point lead for Ange Postecoglou's men.

Can Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg step up?

19:50

The Dane stands in for Yves Bissouma tonight on his first Premier League start of the season.

It wasn't long ago he was an absolute stalwart in this Spurs team but is now a bit of a yesterday's man.

Can he change that tonight?

Big test for Marco Silva

19:48

The Cottagers have only been beaten once on the road this season and held Arsenal to a draw.

But they've only managed to beat three clubs fighting relegation, so there remain questions over how they can up their game against the big boys.

Ange Postecoglou on James Maddison to Sky Sports

19:46

"It helps that he's a hell of a player, it's not like I've unearthed a gem.

"The way we play suits him, and it's a good time in terms of the state of his life. He's matured as a person and it's a great fit for him and the club.

"It's a great platform and he's been great for us. The challenge is not to be satisfied with where he's at."

Ange Postecoglou speaks on Israel-Hamas conflict

19:17 , Marc Mayo

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou says tonight's game can hopefully provide a form of "escapism" and unity for fans affected by the scenes in and around Gaza.

Postecoglou said his response was being "guided by people who are directly affected" by the conflict and hopes football can offer some relief to the suffering.

"And all I can do as a football manager within our football club is try and provide support, advice, guidance in the best way I can and the best way a football club can to anyone who's struggling with these things," he said.

"I've always felt in sport in general, especially football, the greatest role I can play is just that -- and it sounds trivial at times -- it can be a form of escapism.

"Ninety, 95 minutes where you can take people who are struggling with wherever they are in life just away from it, just for a little while, for that period of time that you know you're around supporting their football club.

"And maybe within that context, we can provide some sort of small solace or comfort or, or even a little bit of joy that takes them away from whatever they're going through."

Fulham make two changes to their line-up

No surprise to see Marco Silva make a bit of a defensive move with Sasa Lukic coming into the midfield for Alex Iwobi.

Fulham are also forced into a change at the back with the injured Issa Diop replaced by Calvin Bassey.

One change for Spurs

19:08 , Marc Mayo

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is, as expected, the only change to the Tottenham team for tonight's game.

Yves Bissouma is suspended so the Dane steps into midfield and Giovani Lo Celso continues on the bench.

Brennan Johnson joins the substitutes after overcoming a hamstring injury where there is also a place for young defender Ashley Phillips.

Australia star tips Ange Postecoglou to deliver success to Spurs

18:50

Tottenham can challenge for the Premier League title and have the best communicator in football as their manager, according to Ange Postecoglou’s former player Jackson Irvine.

“He’s a defining character in the history of the sport in our country," Irvine told Standard Sport.

“He speaks as well as anyone in the game. One of his greatest qualities as a manager is that ability to really make you believe not just in a footballing philosophy but in yourself and in the team and the culture that he creates. He’s a special coach.”

Fulham forced into defensive gamble

18:43

Fulham are set to hand £18.5million summer signing Calvin Bassey just his second Premier League start tonight, with Marco Silva facing a defensive shortage for the trip to Tottenham.

Issa Diop is out with a foot injury and Tosin Adarabioyo is still missing with a long-term groin problem, leaving Fulham without a recognised right-sided centre-back.

It means Bassey and Tim Ream - two left-footed players - are expected to line up at the heart of the Fulham defence.

Bassey’s only previous Premier League start came in a 2-2 draw at Arsenal in August.

Good news on the injury front for Spurs

18:38

Rodrigo Bentancur is not expected to be involved tonight despite a return to full training.

Bentancur has been sidelined since surgery on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in February but has gradually stepped up training with the first-team over the past month, with Ange Postecoglou previously saying he could be back in action in November.

"We'll be careful with him," said the Australian. "He's now fully training so he's into the whole session. We've drip-fed him into training in the last sort of month and he's coped pretty well with that. Now he's in to full training."

Heung-min Son injury latest

18:33

Ange Postecoglou has played down concerns over Heung-min Son's fitness and says the Tottenham captain's determination to play whenever possible is "beyond commendable" and a lesson for others.

Asked if he might have to occasionally rest Son for his own good, Postecoglou told Standard Sport: "Look, as long as he's still scoring goals, I don't care mate.

"He doesn't have to train, he doesn't have to do anything! He's scored six goals [this season] and he scored for Korea at the weekend.

"Sonny is who he is and he's got to where he is because of the person he is and I'm certainly not going to change any part of that mate."

Tottenham vs Fulham prediction

Not even being reduced to 10 men has slowed Spurs down so far this season, with Postecoglou's side continuing to deliver with both positive performances and strong results.

There are still major questions as to whether they can sustain a title challenge, but they have more than enough to extend their good form and ease past Fulham on Monday night.

Early Fulham team news

Tosin Adarabioyo, who has previously been linked with a move to Spurs, remains out for Fulham after undergoing groin surgery.

Kenny Tete and Adama Traore are both doubts, while Issa Diop went off against Sheffield United before the international break after feeling a "crack in his foot", according to head coach Silva, and will now miss out.

Predicted Tottenham XI (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Hojbjerg, Sarr, Maddison; Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son

Early Tottenham team news

Spurs look set for a double injury boost this evening, with Heung-min Son and Cristian Romero expected to play after being assessed following their respective returns from international duty.

Captain Son has been battling a groin injury and looked in pain while playing for South Korea, while Romero took a knock to his right ankle when featuring for Argentina, but both are set to be fit to face Fulham.

Yves Bissouma is suspended, but Brennan Johnson could be involved. There are not believed to be any fresh fitness concerns for Postecoglou, who remains without the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur, Manor Solomon, Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon.
