Town duo earns international caps as goalkeeper watches dramatic late turn-around

Ipswich Town Arijanet Muric kept a clean sheet for Kosovo as they beat Lithuania 1-0 in Pristina.

Franco Foda's side were desperate to get a result despite not knowing whether they'd be able to secure automatic promotion after their previous game against Romania was suspended due to racist chanting.

As a result, they made a fast start, knowing that they'd have to outscore their previous opponents, who were playing at home to Cyprus. Muharrem Jashari fired them ahead in the fifth minute, although he was sent off in first-half stoppage time.

The 10 men of Kosovo held out for a 1-0 win, with Muric making four saves across the 90 minutes on his 42nd cap. However, Romania's 3-1 win in Bucharest means that the Dardanians will have to go through the play-offs if they're to secure promotion to Nations League C.

Elsewhere, Liam Delap came off the bench in the 56th minute as England Under-21s drew 1-1 against the Netherlands in Almere, replacing former Town loanee Dane Scarlett.

Scarlett gave Ben Futcher's side the lead just five minutes into the game, but the hosts were dominant after that, with FC Groningen's Thom van Bergen grabbing a late equaliser to earn a draw at the Yanmar Stadium.

Delap earned his 10th cap at the level during the friendly match, while Omari Hutchinson was once again absent after missing the previous game against Spain U21 as well. Futcher revealed afterwards that he missed out with a minor knock.

Finally, Cieran Slicker was an unused substitute as Scotland scored late on to stun Poland in Nations League A.

Steve Clarke's side knew that they'd need to win both of their games this month to stand a chance of avoiding automatic relegation. They took a big step towards doing that when they beat Croatia, while Poland were thrashed by Portugal.

It meant that there was everything to play for in Warsaw on the final matchday, with Aston Villa's John McGinn firing the visitors ahead in the third minute.

Kamil Piatkowski's equaliser could've easily crushed Scotland's hopes, but they kept pushing, with captain Andrew Robertson striking in the third minute of stoppage time to send Poland to Nations League B and ensure that his side would face a play-off game to avoid relegation.

Slicker is yet to feature for Scotland's senior side, but was called up to the senior squad for the first time this month following Angus Gunn's injury.
