The Gunners wanted to further bolster their midfield but failed with THREE bids for Douglas Luiz - and also missed out on signing Danilo after exploring that deal. Hector Bellerin has signed for Barcelona on a free transfer.

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Marcos Alonso heading to Barcelona in a player-plus-cash arrangement. The Blues have missed out on Memphis Depay but did have better luck with Denis Zakaria, with the Swiss midfielder joining on loan after Ajax defensive midfielder Edson Alvarez and PSG superstar Neymar stayed put.

Chelsea have completed a late loan move for Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria.

The 25-year-old was happy to leave the Turin giants and Thomas Tuchel offered him a route out of Serie A during a frantic end to a record-breaking summer transfer window at Stamford Bridge.

Having already spent a club and British record during a single window, the Boehly-Clearlake Capital partnership continued to back Tuchel deep into the final hours of the window. A loan move has been rushed through and the club have an option to buy next year for £26m.

The 21-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Seagulls, and could make his debut this weekend against Leicester.

Michy Batshuayi’s move to Nottingham Forest collapsed in the final few minutes of the summer transfer window, meaning that he will remain at Chelsea until at least January.

The 28-year-old could be caught in limbo as Chelsea will carry 17 non-homegrown players and eight further homegrown stars allowed in the 25 man squad.

However, he can still look for a move to one of the few leagues with transfer windows still open with a loan to the Belgian, Greek or Turkish leagues most likely.

Arsenal will make a second offer for Aston Villa‘s Douglas Luiz on deadline day after having their first approach rebuffed, reports Standard Sport’s Simon Collings.

The Gunners want to sign a new midfielder before the transfer window shuts at 11pm BST and Luiz has emerged as the most likely option.

Arsenal have already failed with an opening bid, believed to be worth around £20million, and will return with a higher offer in the region of £23m.

We understand West Ham’s bid for Ola Aina has been rejected.

Malik Ouzia reports that West Ham are weighing up whether to make an improved bid as they push to sign a new right-back before tonight’s transfer deadline.

A signing in the position would allow the Hammers to sanction the departure of youngster Harrison Ashby, who is wanted by Newcastle as back-up to Kieran Trippier.

Aina, who was born in London and came through Chelsea’s youth ranks, joined Torino in 2018, initially on loan, before making the switch permanent the following summer.

The Spaniard spent last season on loan at Real Betis but he is now attracting the most interest from Barca, who he left in 2011 to join the Gunners.

The structure of any deal is still being worked out, however Bellerin could leave for free as Arsenal look to make a saving on his £100,000-a-week wages.

Chelsea agree Aubameyang deal

Chelsea have agreed on a deal to sign Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona on a permanent deal, writes Nizaar Kinsella.

The 33-year-old will cost £12million and is included in a swap deal with Marcos Alonso moving in the other direction.

The striker will fly out to London this afternoon to sign and complete his medical, with Alonso travelling from Madrid to Catalonia to complete his move.

Chelsea have long had an agreement over personal terms with the Gabon international set to sign a two-year deal that includes an option for an extra season.

Unfortunately, the former Arsenal captain will have to wait at least three weeks to make his debut due to a broken jaw.

Dervisoglu heading to Burnley

One that we mentioned earlier on is Halil Dervisoglu’s move from Brentford to Burnley on loan and it looks to be close to completion, with the forward having travelled up north, writes Malik Ouzia.

Dervisoglu got a fair bit of playing time in pre-season and, after Marcus Forss’ departure, there was a feeling he might stay with the Bees this season.

It’s an interesting call from Thomas Frank, who has a few players in his squad, like Bryan Mbeumo and Mikkel Damsgaard, who can play up front but only really Ivan Toney that you would call a proper centre-forward.

Villa close in on Luiz replacement

Aston Villa have had a bid accepted for Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker, who is likely to be the replacement for Arsenal target Douglas Luiz.

The Belgian midfielder had also been of interest to West Ham during a frantic end to the summer transfer window.

David Moyes’ side were already in talks with the Molineux club over a potential move for Craig Dawson as the deadline approaches, with the veteran defender expected to leave the London Stadium.

Still, Villa have now had an offer believed to be in the region of around £13m accepted for the 27-year-old and his arrival comes as Arsenal target Luiz.

Chelsea are still working on an agreement to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports Nizaar Kinsella.

Marcos Alonso plus cash is expected to be enough to convince Barcelona to sell. The deal could be as low as £6.5million-plus-player.

The plan is for Aubameyang to board a flight to London at 2.15pm to fly out for his medical should an agreement be reached. Until a final figure is fully agreed, he won’t board the plane.

Chelsea were linked with a huge £77million bid for the centre-back, to then loan him back to the club for the season, in an attempt to beat rivals to his signature.

Leipzig may have taken a leaf out of Chelsea’s book as they are reportedly lining up a Gvardiol replacement in the form of Josip Sutalo, who could be signed and loaned back to Dinamo Zagreb until next summer.

West Ham could miss out on Dendoncker

We were told that West Ham were likely to only be interested in a loan deal today and given their own expenditure this summer, it'd be no surprise if Wolves decided on an outright sale instead.

That, of course, would be good news for Arsenal in their Douglas Luiz pursuit.

No surprise if Gil stays

It would be no great surprise if Bryan Gil’s loan move to Valencia is off, as reported this morning in Spain, writes Dan Kilpatrick.

Tottenham have only ever been willing to allow the winger to leave if they can sign a replacement and there is an acceptance that finding an alternative who is better than the Spain international and willing to be a bit-part player is not an easy task at this late hour.

If true, the news would be a blow for Gil, who had wanted to return to the Mestalla for the rest of the season to boost his chances of making Spain’s World Cup squad.

The 21-year-old may now have to remain at Spurs and compete with Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski, Heung-min Son and Richarlison for minutes.

One intriguing but unlikely possibility is that Spurs face pressure to sell Lucas Moura, who has a year remaining on his contract and is interesting Aston Villa.

Fulham close in on Vinicius

Fulham are closing in on a £5million deal to sign former Tottenham striker Carlos Vinicius from PSV Eindhoven, hijacking his loan at Benfica.

The Dutch giants will be due a sizeable sell-on clause and bonuses depending on performances, which has kept the initial fee low.

It remains to be seen whether the Cottagers will follow up their initial bid for Blackburn striker Ben Brereton Diaz with the signing of the Brazilian striker now highly likely.
