Manchester City supporters feel the side's Premier League profligacy and inability to play through deep defences are a cause for concern despite the Blues continuing their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-0 win over Southampton.

Erling Haaland's early goal proved the difference between the sides at the Etihad on Saturday but the Norwegian and his team-mates missed several opportunities to extend the advantage with the struggling visitors remaining in the game until the end. City have yet to taste defeat this season but squeaked past the Saints and needed a last gasp winner to down Wolves in their previous game, showing the difficulties in overcoming stubborn and struggling opponents.

City fans have been having their say on the weekend result. Here's what some of the supporters said commenting on the City player ratings.

De Bruyne Blue: "A win is a win is a win and another three points. But the lack of scoring is concerning. Squeaky wins last two weekends against bottom of the barrel teams in which you would have thought City would by three in their sleep. City created some decent chances but not being clinical enough. Luckily it didn’t come back to bite us today.

"But the chance Southampton had end of the first was heart in mouth stuff. That usually goes in against us, thankfully not today. Goals will come. Would like to see the ball moved quicker. It does seem City play slowly too often. But they created enough chances today to put 3 or 4 in the net. And a clean sheet!! I’d almost forgotten what those felt like in the PL."

Lazerblue: "A win and 3 points was what we needed and we deservedly got, so job done. Southampton set up not to get hammered. We encounter more and more teams who park the bus and give our players no room to work in. Thankfully we scored early, yet struggled to score that second, (Haaland had enough chances to grab a 2nd) which would have calmed the team and the crowd.

"Why do we play so slowly, allowing the opposition to get behind the ball, crazy. Would love all our players to practice their shooting from outside the box, anything can happen. Tired of watching the same old, same old, passing from side to side with little or no end product."

MenTech: "This is how a champion wins. Win ugly. So nice to see a premier league game we didn't concede. Good for the confidence."

HaalandGoat: "Below average performance but this is one occasion where points are more important than the performance with all the injuries we have. Let’s never talk about this game again though eh."
