Viktor Gyokeres to Manchester United transfer update 'emerges' as double Sporting swoop 'eyed'
The Ruben Amorim era at Manchester United is set to officially begin and there isn't too long a wait before there is the possibility of new signings.
United confirmed on Friday that Amorim had been appointed as the club's new head coach from Sporting Lisbon following the departure of Erik ten Hag last month. Ruud van Nistelrooy will serve in interim charge until Amorim officially takes the job later this month.
Amorim's first match in charge of United will be away at Ipswich Town on November 24 after the international break. Between now and then, speculation is expected to ramp up over the potential transfer business that may be conducted during the January window.
MEN Sport takes a look at some of the latest United transfer news and gossip that have emerged over the last 24 hours.

United are being credited with an interest in signing Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. According to Sky Germany, United may be "involved" in the race to sign the Sweden international following the appointment of Amorim as their new head coach.
Amorim has coached Gyokeres at Sporting over the last 18 months, with the striker scoring 63 goals across 66 appearances since the start of last season. The report claims that United will compete with Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal for the striker's signature.
Despite having a €100million (£84million) release clause in his contract, it has been reported that Sporting may allow Gyokeres to leave the club next summer for a fee between €50m-€60million (£42m-£50million).
Elsewhere, United are being linked with a move for Gyokeres' teammate at Sporting Lisbon, Morten Hjulmand. According to Give Me Sport, the Denmark international is attracting interest from Old Trafford ahead of the January transfer window.
The report claims that United are looking to sign a new midfielder with Christian Eriksen increasingly likely to depart when his contract expires at the end of the season. United are apparently keen on signing Hjulmand, who could reunite with Amorim in Manchester were he to complete a switch either in January or next summer.
