Viktor Gyokeres urged to snub Manchester United for another Premier League club
Viktor Gyokeres should snub Manchester United in favour of Arsenal. That is the opinion held of former Gunners midfielder Emmanuel Petit, who has urged the Sporting CP forward to join the north London club as he could prove to be the "final piece of the jigsaw" for Mikel Arteta.
Gyokeres has emerged as one of the most sought-after attackers in world football due to his performances for Coventry and Sporting over the last couple of years. In fact, the Sweden international has struck 108 goals in 169 appearances since the start of the 2021/22 season.
He joined Sporting from Coventry for £16.7million in July 2023 and has turned into a revelation for the Portuguese side, netting 43 times in 50 appearances last season before firing in 25 in 22 so far this term. The 26-year-old scored a hat-trick in Ruben Amorim's final home game in charge against Manchester City before he departed for United last month, while Gyokeres found the net for Sporting at Moreirense on Thursday.

His fine form has attracted attention from clubs across Europe with both Arsenal and United linked, but Petit has advised the former Brighton man to opt for Arteta's title-chasing Gunners if he had the choice.
Ex-Arsenal star Petit told Gambling Zone : "Why would Viktor Gyokeres look at both situations at Arsenal and Manchester United and choose to join United? I know his former manager is there, but there's nothing much going for United as they already have [Rasmus] Hojlund, [Joshua] Zirkzee and [Marcus] Rashford in that position.
"Arsenal is a much more attractive proposition for him, especially as Havertz does not seem like an out and out number nine and Gabriel Jesus isn't really performing. Gyokeres should really consider Arsenal as I think he could be their final missing piece of the jigsaw for Mikel Arteta. I love the way he plays far away from goal and his hold up play, it's something he could really add to Arsenal."
