The result, which leaves Roma, who finished sixth last season, 12th in the Serie A table with 13 points from 12 matches. Prospective Everton owner sacked Roma coach 'before getting to dressing room' in brutal phone call
Johnny Carey was infamously sacked as Everton manager by John Moores while riding with him in a London taxi, but the club’s prospective next owner Dan Friedkin has reportedly dismissed Roma’s head coach by mobile phone – before he could even get back to the changing rooms! Ivan Juric was axed by Roma after less than two months in charge following their 3-2 home defeat to Bologna on Sunday.
Roma Press cites Monday’s edition of Il Tempo as stating that following the full-time whistle, the Croatian headed for the home dressing room at the Stadio Olimpico but before he could even get to his players, his phone rang with Roma president Friedkin on the other end of the line with the American owner personally informing Juric of his sacking.

'The funeral of Roma' - Italian media react to dramatic Dan Friedkin sacking before Everton takeover
The Italian media have been reacting to prospective Everton owner Dan Friedkin’s sacking of a third Roma coach this year after Ivan Juric was axed after less than two months in charge. A report in Il Tempo claims that the Croatian was personally informed of the decision by Friedkin in a telephone call before he could even reach the dressing room following his side’s 3-2 home defeat to Bologna.
An opinion piece in Corriere dello Sport by Ivan Zazzaroni is headlined: “Roma, the day of shame.” He writes: “It had to happen to me, a Bolognese fan of Bologna, to celebrate in the capital’s sports newspaper, the funeral of a Roma.
“Although they were finished on the pitch by goals from Castro, Orsolini and Karlsson, this was the death of a non-idea, of non-management, of a way of doing football that no longer has any reason to exist.
“I breathe in all the confusion and desperation of a people. And then I hope that someone will show the Friedkins the face of their mistakes, the tangible result of their continuous and incomprehensible absences.
“I do not include Juric in this but rather the little boy, framed by the cameras at the Olimpico, so stunned that he couldn’t even cry. Or that of a fifty-year-old who, after Dallinga’s strike to make it 3-1, which is then cancelled out due to a handball, looks around chasing a reason that he refuses.
“There is no need for shouted words or loud headlines today: they could trigger new irritation and other errors from Americans, and not the reflection that leads to a solution. Since last June the Friedkins haven’t had one.”

Friedkin Group takeover of Everton latest as completion date targeted
Everton’s takeover remains on track. But neither the club nor the Blues’ prospective new owners are prepared to respond to reports that the Friedkin Group has now passed the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) and FA approval tests.
When contacted by the ECHO, both Everton and representatives of TFG stressed that they wouldn’t provide any updates until after the regulatory approval process has been completed with the more stringent Premier League’s Owners and Directors test also required before completing the takeover, although there are not expected to be any major concerns on this score.
Sources close to TFG have told the ECHO that their client has maintained an eye on caution throughout this process, but everything is going fine at the moment with no cause for concern and an estimated completion date of mid-December remaining the target.

Sport Witness cite Textor as telling Ole: “In England, we thought we were very close to Everton. I think I’ll probably say it for the first time publicly now.
“We didn’t realise that we were 24 hours away, our documents were ready, and we were ready to send the money and they were still going through a bidding process with another buyer.”

What Claudio Ranieri said about Dan Friedkin should calm Everton nerves after takeover worry
Claudio Ranieri believes prospective new Everton owner Dan Friedkin may have learned important lessons during a turbulent spell leading Roma. The 73-year-old has been appointed as the third manager of the season in Rome after a chaotic start to the campaign that has sparked concern about what Friedkin’s ability to bring stability to the Blues, should his takeover be signed off.
But in his first press conference since returning to the Eternal City, Ranieri provided comments that might ease some nerves on Merseyside, suggesting Friedkin was someone who cared deeply about his football clubs and who was taking note of his mistakes.
Ranieri, who won the Premier League as Leicester City boss, said: said the decision to turn to him may be a sign that lessons are being learnt - ones that could help the expected transition into power at Everton. He said: "If he called me, it means that he realised (his mistakes).
“If there were people who… Well, he must have understood this, I didn’t tell him. Who was it that made a mistake? Who was it that did this? Why did that other thing happen?
“He told me: 'I want this, I want to take Roma to high levels. That’s why I called you.'
“What more does a person have to say to me? He must have realised.”
