WARRINGTON Rylands became the latest side to succumb to high-flying Macclesfield FC – but did better than most!

Robbie Savage’s 50th birthday weekend was marked by his side’s 1-0 victory over the plucky visitors in Northern Premier League West.

Danny Elliott’s 11th goal of the season in the 12th minute was enough to separate the two teams placed at opposite ends of the table.

Rylands dropped to third from bottom as a result of this loss, and probably will not take much consolation from being the first side in nine matches to concede less than two goals against the table toppers.

Ntumba Massanka probably came closest to netting for Rylands when he headed over the bar from near the back post 27 minutes into the first half.

But Blues keeper Luke Pilling was kept pretty busy at the other end and pulled off some fine saves to keep his side in it.

Ultimately though, the Silkmen always looked good for the three points in front of a 3,032 crowd at the Leasing.com Stadium as they remain unbeaten in the league this season, winning 11 and drawing two of their 13 games.

Rylands, on the other hand, stay only a point clear of bottom side Blyth Spartans.
