Warrington Wolves have tied Josh Thewlis down to a new long-term contract. The winger, Super League's young player of the year in 2023, has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club for the next four seasons.

The 22-year-old has already made 88 appearances for the Wire, scoring 39 tires, and has been a major success story for the club having risen through the clubs junior ranks.

Thewlis made his debut aged 17 and has now established himself as a regular under Sam Burgess, ending the campaign with 15 tries in 24 appearances.

“I’m really happy to have signed a new contract, Thewlis said. “I’ve been at this club since I was 15 and I love it here.

“I want to put my best foot forward now, enjoy my rugby and be known as a player who gives everything and who everyone wants to play with. It’s special to play for this club and I love representing this town.”

Burgess has made developing homegrown talent a priority since his arrival at the club, with young halfback Leon Hayes given the number seven jersey for the 2025 season. A number of other youngsters played regularly under Burgess last year.

“It’s great news for the club and Josh to secure his long-term future," Burgess said. “He’s a crucial part of our team and I’m looking forward to having him and his family with us for the next few years.”
