The international break certainly hasn’t come at the best time for Liam Manning and Bristol City as they look to mount a serious challenge for the playoff places.

Although the Robins are having to contend with several injury issues, they will have been disappointed to have had their momentum interrupted after their commanding 2-0 win over Norwich City.

The majority of Manning’s squad won’t be in action again until Burnley visit Ashton Gate on Saturday, November 23 but there are a handful of first-team players who are set to join up with their national sides.

Max O’Leary and Jason Knight - Ireland

O’Leary and Robins skipper Knight will both join up with Heimir Hallgrimsson’s side for their final round of UEFA Nations League fixtures as Ireland look to avoid finishing bottom of Group 2.

The Boys in Green kick off their latest round of fixtures on Thursday, November 14 against Finland at the Aviva Stadium, with Knight looking to add to his 34 international caps.

Before returning to the Robins High Performance Centre, Hallgrimsson’s side will face England at Wembley on Sunday, November 17 in what will be Lee Carsley’s final game in charge of the Three Lions senior squad.

Knight will almost certainly get on the pitch in some capacity during the break. The midfielder started both of Ireland’s matches during the October international break and featured off of the bench when they were beaten by England in September.

However, despite being called up to several international squads during his time as City’s number one, O’Leary is still yet to win his maiden cap for Ireland and will do well to dislodge Caoimhin Kelleher between the posts.

Nahki Wells - Bermuda

Bristol City’s inform striker will be looking to carry his incredible recent club form into the international break as Bermuda have some crucial CONCACAF Nations League fixtures coming up.

The 34-year-old has five Championship goals under his belt already this term, the latest of which secured all three points for the Robins against Norwich City as they ran out 2-0 winners at Carrow Road.

Bermuda are unbeaten in their last three matches, with a hattrick from Wells helping them secure a commanding 6-1 win over Dominica during the October international break.

Wells and the national side will kick off their fixtures this month against Antigua and Barbuda at the Estadio Cibao on Saturday, November 16 before facing the Dominican Republic on Tuesday, November 19.

While the Dominican Republic currently sit top of Nations League Group Four, Bermuda could move top of the group if they manage to secure six points from their next two matches.

It wouldn’t be a shock to see Wells start both matches during the break. Manning and City fans will just have to hope that he returns to Ashton Gate fit and ready to face his old side and pick up where he left off at Carrow Road.
