Wayne Rooney has set out the task for his Plymouth Argyle team, telling them they have to silence the Elland Road crowd to win the battle on Saturday. Rooney brings his Championship strugglers to Elland Road for an afternoon game against a Leeds United side hoping to move second in the standings with a victory.

Unbeaten in seven games and with four victories to their name in that period, the Whites will start as overwhelming favourites against a Plymouth team who sit just outside the relegation zone with just one win in their last five matches. Having conceded nine goals in their last three games, Rooney knows tightening up his team's defence will be key, but he also knows the impact of the Leeds crowd is a major factor in how the afternoon will play out.

"It's a historic club, a very big club," said Rooney speaking to the official club website. “They always create a good atmosphere for the team, but it's on us now to go there, we have to be able to play in that atmosphere and try and quieten the crowd down.

“I think the last three games for us, we’re letting goals in too easily. It needs to be more difficult for the opposition to score against us, so it’s something we've focused on this week, to try to be a bit more resilient, getting into our shape quicker, getting to the ball and being more aggressive.

“It's a big challenge for us on Saturday, but one I think we're ready for.”
