For the second consecutive season, the Premier League looks set to be contested by Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City.

Last term, the three teams fought it out for the majority of the season. Liverpool was in contention, topping the table heading into the final quarter of the term. However, some poor results saw the Reds fall away, with Arsenal and City going blow for blow before the latter pulled away, winning the Premier League for a fourth consecutive season.

This year, however, there has been plenty of change. Liverpool for one has a new manager in Arne Slot, with the Dutchman having replaced Jurgen Klopp.

City, meanwhile, will be without Ballon d'Or winning midfielder Rodri for the entire season, while Arsenal has had to deal with an injury to Martin Odegaard which has seen him miss over a month of action for the Gunners.

But just where will all three teams be come December? As things stood heading into gameweek 10, City was top. However, Pep Guardiola's team conceded twice to Bournemouth, while Liverpool came from a goal down to take a 2-1 lead over Brighton. Arsenal could have cut the gap between the two sides but lost its clash this weekend to Newcastle United at St James' Park, with Alexander Isak scoring the only goal of the game.

Thankfully however for the Gunners, the Reds and City follow up their games this weekend against Aston Villa and Brighton, two games that will prove tough tests. Arsenal takes on Chelsea next weekend, which will also be a tricky fixture and it would not be out of the question the three sides all draw against their respective opponents. Following that, the Reds play Southampton, a game they should win. City take on Spurs at home, rather than at their bogey ground which is the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That is a game that could see City drop points again, leaving it behind Liverpool. Arsenal takes on Nottingham Forest at the Emirates. Despite Forest's good performances this season, you would expect Arsenal at home to win that game.

And then the final set of fixtures before the heavy December fixtures start rolling in will see Liverpool and City face off against each other, while Arsenal play West Ham United. Liverpool.com reckons Liverpool and City will take points off each other, with that game ending in a draw, while Arsenal should beat West Ham United.

In that event, the Premier League table would look like this at the beginning of December: Liverpool top on 30 points, City second on 26 and Arsenal third on 25.

Liverpool.com says: Liverpool must look to capitalize every week where City and Arsenal drop points. With City looking off the pace without Rodri, and Arsenal having already dropped points on a number of occasions this season, it will be imperative the Reds keep picking up points so as to build up a big enough lead over their opponents.
