Why Arsenal are not wearing their new kit against Everton in Premier League clash

The final day's fixtures hold such significance that Arsenal won't be debuting their new home shirt, it has been reported.

Arsenal have unveiled the design of their new kit, with a notable change being the replacement of the club badge with a simple cannon design. The Gunners will sport the shirt for the 2024-25 campaign, and they hope to enter that season as defending champions.

Mikel Arteta's squad will face Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday with the league title still up for grabs. They will secure the title if they can outperform rivals Manchester City, who are playing West Ham United simultaneously.

In past seasons, teams have been allowed by the Premier League to don the next season's shirts in their final match. However, Arsenal are not anticipated to seize this opportunity.

As per The Sun, the Gunners have decided against showcasing the new design because the league title is still undecided. Manchester City, who also revealed their 2024-25 kit this week, are likewise not expected to abandon the 2023-24 kit just yet.

While Arsenal may not be looking ahead with their kit choice for the final day, they seemed to be doing so with the kit release itself. David Raya, currently on loan, was spotted modelling the goalkeeper kit, suggesting the Gunners plan to make his move from Brentford permanent.

On Raya's future, Arteta has previously said: "Those conversations are for after the season. We will review where we are," and adding, "Obviously, we are really happy with David and everything he has brought to the club and the team, there is no question about it. But, those decisions are taken by all of us at the club and we will see."

The Gunners' title hopes took a hit as Manchester City secured victory over Tottenham, despite a missed opportunity from Spurs' Son Heung-min. Reflecting on the moment, Arteta said, "If I had to pick a player in the Premier League for that moment, it probably would be him.

"Michael Jordan explained it many times, how many times he had the winning shot. It was always him. Sometimes yes, sometimes he did not manage to do it. This is the beauty of sport, as well. What can you do? "

Looking ahead to Arsenal's upcoming fixtures, Arteta remarked, "The hope was there and it didn't happen. Now we have to do our job which is going to be tough because Everton are in a good moment.

"It's one of the biggest weeks for sure for many of us. Certainly now is the most important moment. Can't wait for Sunday to be in front of us. Very optimistic for the possible outcome.

"So we have to prove again that we can be better than the opponent and win the game. We have to wish for the best and wish for West Ham to have a really good day and help us to fulfil our dream.
