Why Lennon Miller is playing for Scotland U19s as man closest to Motherwell star sets the record straight
Lennon Miller is a name on the lips of fans, pundits and professionals across the game as he continues his stunning rise at Motherwell.
There were even shouts from the Tartan Army that he should be part of Steve Clarke's top team for the Nations League double-header with Croatia and Poland after his starring role for Stuart Kettlewell at Fir Park. The highly-rated 18-year-old has regularly been namechecked as one who will move on eventually to a higher level and make a top career out of the game. Celtic and Rangers have been told numerous times he should be on the watch list and he is certain to have many clubs chasing him in the not too distant future.
Just last week, he took on the armband for Motherwell for the Premier Sports Cup semi-final defeat to Philippe Clement's side. It was a moment the youngster will never forget - despite the outcome at the national stadium. Asked if there was any expectation he would get the nod for the Scotland top team for the November fixtures, dad Lee told A View from the Terrace: "There are always rumours and hints of maybe he will get in that first-team squad. But Lennon is 18.

"He is enjoying playing with the 21s. Obviously, the 19s have important games coming up and he wants to play in those games. It was him that wanted to play in those games which I think is testament to himself. He just wants to play football and get as many minutes in the tank as possible. And enjoy playing with his age group that he's grown up with and playing against and with over the years. I just like to see him enjoying playing football
His dad Lee - also a professional back in his playing days at the likes of Dundee United, Falkirk, Aberdeen - and also capped by Scotland is in no doubt his son can reach the very top. He says the world is his oyster and if he just keeps knuckling down at club level then the rest will follow.
He added: "The world is his oyster. He can be the player he thinks he can be. He's confident but he's not arrogant with it, if that makes sense. He just needs to concentrate on his club football and the rest will take care of itself."
