Coming out of the October international break, Arsenal are 10 games unbeaten in all competitions. Across those games - in the Premier League, Champions League, and Carabao Cup - Mikel Arteta's men scored 22 times and conceded just seven.

It is a continuation of the form at the back end of last season that took them within 90 minutes of lifting the title. 2024 has, with no exaggeration, been almost faultless.

Although there has been one notable slip-up so far - a 1-1 draw at home to Brighton - even that was shrouded in controversy. Injuries and suspension have left Arsenal yet to truly hit their stride but still in an extremely strong position.

For William Saliba, even this is not enough. As one of the outstanding individuals in a team now dominated by impressive characters, his role is as defensive rock.

Alongside Gabriel Magalhaes and in front of David Raya, Saliba is part of an imperious backline. Ben White often on the right, Saliba has had to work with a variety of left-backs, including those out of position or fitness.

This hasn't stopped him from commanding Arteta's side from deep. With France appearances added, Saliba is already up to six clean sheets this season - ahead of the visit to Bournemouth.

Now cemented as a true titan of the world game despite his lack of silverware so far, Saliba continues to strive for more. It is the sort of attitude that Arteta promotes, demands, and has fostered at Arsenal.

As he attempts to overthrow Manchester City, nothing but the highest of standards is acceptable. That is evident in Saliba's own analysis of the season to date. "Not bad can do much better", he wrote when asked by the Arsenal media team on Instagram how he would sum up the opening two months.

For many, Arsenal have continued to be imperious. The results churn is in full force, even if the club haven't yet hit full stride. The pace and relentless energy of Manchester City makes it tougher than ever to get the rewards such a record largely deserves.

With Saliba's mindset and quality, Arteta will hope that Saliba's impact is felt across his group.
