Willy Gnonto is relishing the added responsibility of his new Leeds United role this season - and insists he will get even better.

The young Italian has had to shoulder much of the attacking burden this season, with the focus falling firmly on the 21-year-old following the exits of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter. The onus on chance creation has swung towards Gnonto, but while he admits it has been steep learning curve, he is determined to be a key man for Daniel Farke's side.

Gnonto was again at the fore in the 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, but admitted it's hard to deal with the added attention on the pitch. However, he's happy to take that focus if it means opening up opportunities for team-mates.

"It's a compliment but at the same time it's tough," he told the BBC. "I'm in a position where I would like to take players on one vs one, but it's not always possible. At the same time I know that if they double up on me, it's easier for someone else to have space so I just try to use it as much as I can.

"I have to improve as well but at the same time its a new position for me and I'm sure I am going to get even better."

Leeds were grateful for Joel Piroe's late goal to seal the 2-0 win after Jayden Bogle's first-half opener at Elland Road, but Gnonto had no doubt the Dutchman would take his late chance.

“I think they were both good," he added. "The first goal, Jayden did a good job. But with Joel, we know what he can do, his finishes are always perfect and that’s what he did.”
