Wire squad numbers are revealed for the 2025 season

WARRINGTON Wolves have confirmed the squad numbers their players will have on their shirts during the 2025 season.

And Warrington-born half-back Leon Hayes is the headline maker, being handed the number 7 shirt vacated by Josh Drinkwater.

The 7 has been worn at Warrington by some of the sport’s superstars and club legends over the years – the likes of Lee Briers, Allan Langer, Ken Kelly, Parry Gordon, Gerry Helme – and the 20-year-old gets the nod from head coach Sam Burgess for the iconic shirt number ahead of new signing Oli Leyland.

Hayes, who signed a new contract in May until the end of 2027, started the first 10 games of the 2024 campaign in the role before suffering a fracture dislocation of his left ankle at Salford Red Devils in April.

Leyland, signed from London Broncos, will be Hayes’ biggest rival for who gets to partner George Williams in the halves and the 23-year-old newcomer is handed squad number 18.

Fellow new signings, Dan Russell and Alfie Johnson, take the shirt numbers 26 and 31 respectively.

Luke Yates will be sporting number 13 on his back for 2025, with Rodrick Tai (number 4) and Sam Powell (number 14) also switching numbers for the new campaign.

Club captain Stefan Ratchford reverts to the number 19 shirt – the first number he wore when he joined the club in 2012.

Wolves’ new kits for the 2025 season will be unveiled tomorrow, Saturday, at The Halliwell Jones Stadium’s annual fireworks event.

Shirt printing is available in the club’s store and online priced at £15.
